It has been nearly two weeks since we published The Business of Events' Policy Agenda, and the feedback has been very encouraging. Work is now underway to reform the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events, and this policy agenda will form the basis of the group's scope of work. As ever, if you would like to be more involved we are always looking for partners to support our advocacy efforts. The business events industry is a vital driver of economic growth, innovation, and international collaboration. To maximise its impact, we need targeted government policies that support and enhance this dynamic sector. 📊 Key policy initiatives: 1. Updating SIC codes: Ensuring accurate representation and targeted support for the events industry. 2. Easier visa schemes: Facilitating international collaboration post-Brexit for both inbound and outbound events. 3. Event tax credit scheme: Attracting new events and supporting existing ones through financial incentives. 4. Attracting international events: Providing more support to position the UK as a top destination for global events. 5. Practical support for competitiveness: Using events as a catalyst for growth across various sectors. 6. Investment in Convention Bureaux: Empowering national and regional bureaus to drive economic development. 7. Leveraging events for policy objectives: Utilising business events as platforms to deliver and promote government policies. 🚀 Call to action: We recommend the UK Government to adopt these policy initiatives to ensure the continued growth and success of the business events industry. ❗️General Election post ❗️ This week we at The Business of Events have published our Policy Agenda for the events industry, which will form the scope of work for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events once it is reformed after the election. No political party has included any specific reference to using events as drivers for growth or knowledge exchange, but we know the sector is ripe to have its potential unlocked. One of the aces up the industry’s sleeves is that events can help any government achieve its policy objectives, and by creating a national strategy for events - identifying specific events to solve specific needs in specific locations - will ensure benefit is felt right across the country. Trade shows and exhibitions are ready-made marketplaces that grow business, conferences keep us informed and connected, meetings help us form plans, association congresses are where our global experts learn from each other and improves our lives in medicine, science, technology and just about anything else. You cannot vote today on event industry matters, but you can help influence the next Government by sharing the points of this Policy Agenda with your MP over the course of the next Parliament. The events industry is ready to go. Are you? #eventsindustry #conference #meeting #exhibition #tradeshow #events #eventprofs #ukgeneralelection #election #policy #government
