Did you know 300,000 #bikes end up in landfill each year in Australia? While #cycling is a #sustainable mode of transport, cheap, low-quality bikes often get trashed after a short lifespan. Revolve ReCYCLING is tackling this issue by #refurbishing and #recycling bikes, keeping them out of landfill and giving them a second life. #RevolveReCYCLING are also working with councils and bike shops to improve #wastemanagement practices in the cycling industry. Support #sustainablecycling! Look for quality bikes and donate or #recycle your old one. ♻️🚲 Guido Verbist Pete Shmigel #cycling #sustainability #recycling #circulareconomy #wastenotwantnot https://lnkd.in/gpc3Wi2G
There are some charity groups / men's sheds that repair bikes and send them over to the less fortunate in other countries.
It looks like too many people are too lazy or couldn't be bothered to take them to their recycling centre or transfer station.
That is a staggering number of bikes trashed each year. Having bought one of those cheap bikes once, I made my next purchase a good quality second hand one. And a big shout out to #revolveReCycling for such a clever business model.
Wow, that's quite a number of bikes 😀 Great work Revolve 👍

5moThese bikes could be taken to scrap yards but the problem like many recyclables that can't go in the yellow bin there are very few collection points available, unless there is volume the bikes would simply be dumped.
