Who is back to frequent business travel? I’ve been re-earning my road warrior stripes lately! A couple of thoughts: -- We need to establish “new normals” for travel -- just like we have for being in the office. This includes planning flight times, hotel locations and meeting hours that allow for rest, quiet work time, and time zone adjustments you need to perform your best and stay healthy. -- Now that masks are not an oddity, it couldn’t hurt to wear them in airports and while in transit. I can’t tell you how many colleagues have gotten ill after traveling and then lost office days. I’m gunna be honest, travel work fucking sucks. Cons of Travel Work: Point 1: If you’re a business owner without a fully functioning team, it’s hard to actually take time off on vacation. Unless you have an operator, you might find yourself working in a different location instead of enjoying your vacation. Point 2: If you’re like me, you thrive on structure and routine. Travel work stresses me the fuck out because it disrupts my flow.
