𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲? I was recently working with a leadership team and we were discussing our team values and Disagree and Commit came up. Now I have been an advocate for this one for a while - particularly when a team is going through a period of change(and lets face when are we not going through change these days). And one of the attendees suggested what about adjusting it to 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁. Their rationale was two fold - a) it sounds a bit more positive, but b) it is saying that team members need to communicate their objection. And l LOVE THIS! Today at the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce lunch, we celebrated the graduates of Leadership BA 2024 and were inspired by Cedric Ikpo’s talk on cultivating leadership. Here are some key takeaways: -Success requires both preparedness for known tasks and adaptability to the unforeseen challenges that inevitably arise. -At every echelon of leadership, confronting the unknown is an inherent part of the journey. -Throughout the span of a decade, highs and lows are inevitable; however, maintaining consistency and unwavering focus on the mission is paramount. -Critical attributes of effective leaders include humility, self-assurance, empathy, emotional intelligence, resilience, authenticity, and a willingness to be vulnerable. -Continuously nurture intellectual curiosity, cultivate a supportive community, and actively strive to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
