Adaptive ski racing is my anatomical freedom and where I found that my body with a “deficit” is really a body that has opportunity to deny and defy. Where this event takes place is more than just a sport but where my body that wasn’t suppose to ever walk feels grande-movement, endurance, and opened doors for me to thrive not despite a disability but in the power of one. My journey is proof that adversity doesn’t just build character—it embodies it. My values ingrained in my journey are not abstract ideals but living forces that exist in everybody. Guinness World Record achieved! ⛷️ 30 countries in 27 days, 22 flights, 30,000 km, erupting volcanoes, 90mph gales, pneumonia, and countless challenges – all conquered for two amazing charities Saint Francis Hospice & The National Brain Appeal Here are my 3 key takeaways: ⛰️ Micro-goals conquer mountains: My initial ‘30-in-30’ plan hit snags facing serious setbacks by day 4. Croatia had no snow, and I was refused entry to Bosnia and other Schengen countries. Landing at '23-in-30' didn't quite have the same ring! Adapting to a "one country at a time" strategy, with small wins fuelling progress, allowed me to break the current record of 17 before regrouping and focusing on the remaining 12 countries. This strategy is key for any large goal in business or life. As Robert Collier said, "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out.” 🛫 Together, we go further: An African proverb says, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go as a team." After skiing 16 countries in 11 days, my challenges multiplied tenfold. I was required to accomplish the World Record solo. Yet, friends, colleagues and family went above and beyond to help where they were allowed. From charity donations and plane tickets to organising national TV and radio coverage and raising awareness for the charities, the support was endless and incredible. This experience was an invaluable reminder of the importance of teamwork in achieving goals, both in personal adventures and in business endeavors. 👌🏽 Embrace the pivot: As Mike Tyson said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." The universe throws curveballs and the Guinness World Record journey reminded me of the importance of adaptability. Sometimes we have to take the long road to reach our final destination and along the way we might need a pivot to get there. Trust that detours can lead to even greater success. Adapting quickly to new circumstances can make all the difference in business and life. Panadero Ski Corporation received $250,000 through our office’s Colorado State Outdoor Recreation Grant (COSORG) program. This grant supports operational expenses for Cuchara Mountain Park in Huerfano County—the largest infrastructure project funded by COSORG to date. Cuchara Mountain Park, which originally closed in 2000, will officially reopen this Saturday for the 2024-2025 ski season! 🎿 Panadero Ski Corporation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the park as a hub for skiing and year-round recreation. This community-focused ski hill will feature seven runs, perfect for kids, beginners, and families alike. 9 new community groups in London have been awarded a ‘Share the Joy’ cycling grant from Lime, the London Cycling Campaign and LOUD MOBILITY. Georgia Yexley, Founder of Loud Mobility, told Zag Daily: “The fund has been set up with a particular focus on providing a low-barrier route to support activists, community groups and grassroots organisations delivering joyful cycling experiences in London. UPDATE from Julie, Sally & Ed! The eagle eyed of you will know that the Ebb and Flow speed has greatly reduced. The team are unfortunately caught in the middle of bad weather. : They spent last night under power-anchor as they were exhausted. The auto helm is struggling to perform as the seas are rough and the winds strong. : The rowing boat wants to turn side on into the wind - currently gusting up to 30 knots. This means they need to bring the center board up and row to turn the boat to get her back on course - this is exhausting - and yesterday they did this over ten times. : Jasmine II is a 4/5 man rowing boat. The weight of this rowing boat is considerable, so in conditionals like this, it becomes much harder to manage if you are only a 3 man crew. Additionally this crew are not exactly huge, so the struggle is real. : They now have no hot water - the gas has completely run out, due to dubious advice that was given - not by us or Paul. This means that all their food is cold, and they have now hot drinks. : To say the team have had enough would be an understatement. : They now know the only way out of this is to row, and try and kep the boat in a straight line and on course, making sure they are actually heading for Antigua. As you can see from the image, currently this isnt the case, and they are heading for a completely different part of land. : The bad weather is with them for a week... So - we have a tired team, already a bit broken, now trying very hard to cope with this current bad weather system.
