Woofta! What a MOXIElicious month: Women of Ag, Women Entrepreneurs of MN, Women's Council of Realtors, Women's Coaches Symposium, Hmong Chamber of Commerce Small Business Summit. That's a lot of MOXIE. One thing in common-getting paid what you're worth. Ironically (the English in teacher loves this), today is the "last" day of financial literacy month. Here's my advice to getting paid what you're worth: "Know the numbers: talk to each other." Read more if curious. And share your best advice on getting paid what you're worth. #financialliteracy #womenempowerwomen #womeninbusiness #moxiemoments #askforit https://lnkd.in/g2mTeHNe

🏡 Executive Director at Varosi Properties | Real Estate Consultant | Passionate about enhancing lives through secure real estate investments.
Let me tell you a short story… My mum was a stay-at-home mum till I graduated from the university. It wasn’t quite the norm in those days to see a lot of women drop off their kids at a crèche or with a maid and run off to work, so to some extent considering the economy in those days, it seemed understandable. However, she wanted her money—it didn’t matter if he gave her money for clothes, shoes or whatever, she wanted her money so she could have some level of control over her own finances and so she could gift whomever she wanted to without asking for help. This didn’t stop her from contributing to the home, she just wanted her own money which she had a say over. While I was in primary school, she started an ice and Zobo business from our flat. This business started from one freezer and gradually expanded to 3 and then 4 freezers. All this happened within the home while looking after us. The storyline might not be the same for everyone. The end goal is, it is just characteristic to living beings to reproduce. From nothing or something insignificant to something very significant. It doesn’t matter if you are male or female. There’s just so much joy in being able to see and enjoy the work of your hands. In envisioning a world of equal empowerment, let's empower girls by instilling the understanding that financial strength is not a reason for apology. Acknowledging that many women work diligently for their earnings. Let’s encourage a shift in mindset, letting women recognize that the sky offers ample space for any bird ready to soar (male or female). You can be everything you believe you can be. Believing means starting. Happy International Women’s Day. I join the campaign to #inspireinclusion in the real estate sector. #IWD #realjenniferohia #womeninrealestate #womeninbusiness #thoughtleader #realestate

WHM Day 20 of 31: Wise Words from Wise Women A 30 second Q&A with Ashley S., certified life coach and owner of Ashley The Life Coach. Ashley and I have been friends since elementary school in Plano, TX, and she was one of our favorite IG live guests earlier this year. (I'll provide the link to that conversation in the comments.) toth shop: In less than 10 words, what’s ONE piece of advice would you give to young women today? Ashley Shihab: “Get clear on who you are and what you want." ts: How can we better support women in business? AS: “By being real about our stories of how we got here - the struggles we faced, the times things flowed like magic, the resources that helped us. Even though this is a controversial topic, I think that talking about money is actually extremely helpful among like minded communities.” ts: What’s one thing about you or your career that you’d like the world to know? AS: “When I was lost and looking for my passion and purpose, I felt like I was wasting time. Looking back, I see how all of the career experiences I had led me to where I am today. I learned things at every job that I use in my business. Time spent finding yourself, investing in personal growth and healing is never wasted. “ To learn more about Ashley, please visit her website in the comments below - again, bonus comment with the link to our IG Live in January.
