Significance of Autism Awareness Month Autism Awareness Month is a time to promote understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This annual observance is held every April to raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families. 1. Promoting Understanding and Acceptance One of the main goals of Autism Awareness Month is to increase awareness and understanding of autism. This includes educating the general public about the signs and symptoms of ASD, as well as the challenges that individuals with autism may face in their daily lives. Through increased awareness and understanding, society can become more accepting and inclusive of individuals with autism. This can help to reduce stigma and discrimination and promote a more positive and supportive environment for individuals with autism and their families. 2. Supporting the Autism Community Autism Awareness Month is also an opportunity to show support for the autism community. This includes individuals with autism, their families, and the organizations and professionals that work to support them. There are many ways to support the autism community during this month, such as participating in autism walks and fundraising events, volunteering at local autism organizations, or simply spreading awareness through social media and other channels. Overall, Autism Awareness Month is an important opportunity to promote understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals with autism and their families. By working together, we can help to create a more inclusive and supportive society for all. #share #AutismAwareness #AutismAcceptance #AutismSupport #InclusionMatters #Neurodiversity #AutismCommunity #UnderstandingAutism #SupportAutism #AutismAdvocacy #CelebrateDifferences #DisabilityAwareness #AutismAwarenessMonth #DiversityAndInclusion #SeeTheAbleNotTheLabel #AwarenessToAcceptance

You are an integral part of ensuring that the impact of federal autism programs continue to change and benefit the lives of people with autism. The bipartisan Congressional Autism Caucus needs your help TODAY in gathering support for autism research, programs and services in the next federal budget. Take action now! Autism Caucus Co-Chair, Rep. Chris Smith is circulating a letter asking colleagues in the US House of Representatives to join in asking for increased federal funding for autism research and services. This appropriations request will provide much-needed resources for federal research and programs that can help improve outcomes for autistic individuals. Funding of federal autism activities has led to significant progress in our understanding of the biology of autism, the numbers of individuals across the country with a diagnosis, as well as the types of interventions, services and supports that can benefit the autism community. Because of this progress, we also know a significant gap remains in the resources many individuals across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan need to live safe, happy and fulfilling lives. Increased investments in autism research and services will make a lifetime of difference for autistic individuals and their families by aiding in earlier diagnosis and further personalized interventions, improving our understanding of co-occurring conditions, expanding prevalence monitoring, addressing shortages in health care professionals for adults with autism, supporting better pathways for transition-age young adults and improving outcomes across the lifespan. The deadline for House members to sign-on to this appropriations request letter is end of business on Tuesday, April 30 so we need you to act fast! Take 30 second & click the link to ask your representative to sign-on in support of funding federal autism programs. Thank you, David Sitcovsky Senior Director of Policy & Federal Government Affairs https://p2a.co/BYX1EDe

Yesterday, I went to a group in-person session with my local Autism Hub. They shared a lot of really useful resources that I thought might be helpful to wider audiences, so here you go. It gave me a lot to think about and digest.

Autism in the workplace:IEPs in schools should also follow you into the workplace if it is still needed. Neurodiversity is a KPI that is directly related to the retention of high performance individuals. Meet people where they are. No small roles; only small actors.

Autism awareness month Many kids do not have access to a service to get diagnosed in Manitoba. The indigenous communities here have sky high rates of autism. This means they don’t get services in time for school and this impacts them for their whole life. CBD is often life changing for these kids. I get so many desperate parents messaging me almost daily. My families say most often they notice: - their child’s speech improves dramatically - they start showing affection - they make friends and display empathy Often the change is so dramatic I do not advise trying it before a proper diagnosis. The 2 kids with autism in our documentary “Anything Can Happen “ have dramatic changes which have persisted for years… continually improving. One is actually the lead actor in a play now.
