This initiative is designed to empower managers and staff within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the hospitality sector to deliver adapted services that cater to the unique needs of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). 🔹 Project Aim: Our mission is to qualify hospitality professionals, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide exceptional, inclusive service to all customers, including those with ASD. By embracing this initiative, we're not just enhancing service quality; we're promoting inclusivity and understanding within our communities. 🔹 Together with Asociación FRESS and Autism Friendly Club, we at Folkuniversitetet in Uppsala will implement this exciting project during the next 16 months in the hospitality sector in Sweden and Spain. People sometimes wonder why I am so passionate about getting educational opportunities to children in low resource settings and crisis/conflict contexts. Here's an excellent commentary from a colleague at the Brookings Institution, Sweta Shah, PhD, that summarizes the critical nature of this work and why the global community needs to prioritize getting children in emergency contexts access to education. #EiE All of this is particularly true for children with disabilities. Our team recently engaged with multiple departments of the City of Tamarac's government. We provide comprehensive training on Autism & Neurodiversity, city-wide accessibility and accommodations, and fostering a strengths-based community. It was a valuable opportunity to highlight the importance of building inclusive cities. We are excited to continue offering training and support as Tamarac progresses towards becoming an Autism Inclusive City through HAAPE. Stay tuned and follow our journey!
