I have always enjoyed buying cars, but my recent experience purchasing a Tesla made me rethink the entire process and how I can apply those lessons to my recruiting career. Traditionally, buying a car has felt like a bit of a game that I considered myself quite good at. However, Tesla's approach was a game-changer. With Tesla, everything is done through their app. Simple, easy-to-follow tasks are delivered to the app when action is required, and if you have questions, an assistant is available through chat to provide support. After showing interest, there are no harassing emails, texts, or phone calls. They know their brand and don't chase—but when you need them, they're there, ready to help. The entire process was incredibly smooth and efficient, which has inspired me to reevaluate how I deal with clients in my recruiting work. Like Tesla, I want to make my clients' onboarding experience seamless. By providing clear next steps, being available when needed, and respecting their time, I hope to deliver an experience that leaves a lasting positive impression!

As I read news about #Tesla trying to hire back people that was laid off over the past few months in #China, I can't help but think how bad this is. Letting people go only to hire them back is never a good idea. It messes with stability, it hurts people's morale, and ultimately it costs more money. In Tesla's case, 1) they are obviously messing with their operations (the articles report how they short-staffed their stores by 30% with serious impact on their ability to provide standard services), 2) they are sending a dreadful message to their people (we don't know what we're doing), and 3) the operation is so costly that they are proposing people to give back part of their severance packages if they want to get back in. Not the best strategy, it seems. I do have to say, most of the companies I interact with in China are faced with a challenging, uncertain scenario, yet they decided to focus on retention, development, and achieving higher agility - prioritising long-term goals over short-term, mediocre wins. Hopefully, Tesla will learn the lesson too. #people #peoplestrategy #retention #workforceplanning #Tesla #China #business #organizationaldevelopment #agility

Daily reminder: -Your company is not your family -Your career is a part of your life and not life itself -A business puts business needs first All of that said, keep investing in yourself. Great companies are built on top talent. Top talent requires that you maintain and grow your skills. Choosing to be an employee means you limit the control you have over your fate (but remember, control in life is the ultimate illusion) Be intentional with everything you do as you navigate your career, from building your network to your day to day performance. 🚗 The automotive sector is facing a bumpy road when it comes to recruitment. Why, you ask? Let's dive under the hood. 🛠️ Firstly, the industry is shifting gears towards electric and autonomous vehicles. This means the demand for traditional manufacturing skills is slowing down, while the hunt for tech-savvy talent is accelerating. 🌱⚡With lower Service times, less parts and no Oil, where will the revenue be replaced? Secondly, there's a generational pit stop. Many experienced workers are cruising into retirement, leaving a skills gap in their rear-view mirror. The younger crowd isn't racing to fill these roles, often due to a lack of awareness or interest in automotive careers. 🏁 Thirdly, the sector's image needs a polish. It's battling a perception of being old-fashioned and not as sexy as the tech giants where many graduates prefer to park their talents. 📱💻 So, what's the fuel for change? Companies need to rev up their employer branding, showcase the industry's innovation, and invest in training to attract a new generation of talent. 🛠️🎓 The road ahead is challenging, but with the right strategies, the automotive sector can find the right crew to navigate the future. 🚘🌟 #AutomotiveIndustry #RecruitmentChallenges #FutureOfWork

FIRED then HIRED??? Musk starts rehiring Supercharger employees "To date, it remains unclear how many employees were called back to work for the company again, but anonymous sources claimed that it is currently seeking the fired personnel." Why would you do this?? Years ago at Toyota one of the stores I looked after had a dealer principal who was well known to be bi-polar. To say the least, his behaviour was erratic. For me, visiting the store was often very difficult. People would be fired and a few days later he'd beg them to return. To say it was hard on the employees was an understatement. While I am not saying that Musk suffers from this (though he revealed he has Asperger's syndrome), I can sympathize with Tesla employees going through this situation. Someone described it as like being in a bad relationship. It also gives the company a bad reputation. I just ran a LinkedIn poll, and of the ~1,200 people who voted, 45% said they would "never" work for Tesla. That's not a good statistic. As many have said, Tesla remains a very desirable place to work at - to learn and add to your resume - but few will make it a career. What do you think of Tesla rehiring the fired Supercharger folk? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. More here: https://lnkd.in/e2EvxkNc? #automotive #batteries #climatechange #electricvehicles #innovation #sustainability #cleanenergy #renewableenergy

American EV manufacturer Tesla has added over 20 AI-related job openings in Palo Alto, California since May 23, all focused on their self-driving technology. The new roles are primarily engineering positions for the Autopilot & Robotics division, signaling Tesla's focus on advancing autonomous driving technology. These opportunities come with competitive salaries ranging from $104,000 to $360,000 annually, plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Tesla posting these positions amid mass layoffs is part of a global trend. In our database, there are currently over 14,000 AI-related vacancies in the US (up 36.8% over the past 12 months) from more than 3,300 companies.
