Today the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association, Canadian Automobile Dealers Association - CADA, and Global Automakers of Canada released new polling data on British Columbians attitudes towards electrification and the government’s zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate requiring 90% ZEV sales by 2030 and 100% by 2035. The survey finds there is a clear disconnect between the government’s regulated ZEV sales requirements and the realities facing British Columbians when they consider buying a new vehicle. According to the poll, 40% of respondents will not consider a ZEV for their next vehicle purchase. With ZEV sales at 21.8% in Q2 of 2024, there is no pathway to 90% sales in 5 years without significantly more British Columbians considering a ZEV. Overall, half of British Columbians are opposed to the mandate. Not surprisingly, the survey shows that the more aware someone is of the mandate and its implications, the more likely they are to oppose it. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eVudrgMx

Planning to buy a new car? confused weather to go with EV or petrol/diesel vehicle? 🚗 lets consider the avg cost of Tata Nexon, for educational purposes A petrol car you will get it at 9,80,000 (approx) and Diesel car will be around 11,00,000 and when it comes to EV it will cost you around 15,00,000. Adding fuel costs to petrol and diesel cars (avg monthly run of 1,500 kms and fuel efficiency is 17.85 and fuel efficiency for diesel is 20.83, as per data) monthly fuel prices for petrol - 8933.61 rs and for diesel- 6635 rs Where as when it comes EV the charges are only 1071.20 as we need 30 units to cover 375 kms and it cost around 7.96 per unit (considering 120 units) Now adding 6% inflation to fuel cost, after 4 years It will cost you Petrol - 14,48,963 rs Diesel - 14,58,342 rs EV - (as initial buying cost was high) 15,05,233 rs and after 10 years, petrol and diesel car will cost you around 25L and 23L Respectively but EV will cost you only around 18L rupees! BUT BUT, Here is the catch!! ⚔️ Considering the battary cost of EV which should be replaced atleast twice in 10 years (once in 5 years) and battary cost is around 4 lakh rupees! by adding 8L to 18, the overall cost can go upto 24L as well. Conclusion - As of now I dont think you should shift to EV vehicles as pricing is too high and not efficient at all, maybe in coming times to govt and the automobile companies will sort it out 💯 Make sure you follow me for more such analysis! 🔗

Vehicle Usage in Canada Positive for the Automotive Aftermarket Kilometres driven is one of the key dynamics for the automotive aftermarket, significantly influencing vehicle maintenance cycles for a range of aftermarket product areas. DAC closely tracks this variable using a variety of inputs including consumer surveys, geo-mobility data, and gas consumption. We recently finished tabulating the 2023 gas consumption data and the results were interesting indeed. Overall gas consumption for the year came in at nearly 43 million cubic metres, 17.3% above the nadir seen in the pandemic hit year of 2020, and importantly 1.1% above 2019 results. What makes this growth even more impressive is the continually improving fuel economy of the fleet. DAC analysis indicates that PHEVs and BEVs accounted for approximately 0.5% and 1.5% of the fleet as of 2023 – vehicles which obviously use less gas, or no gas at all, while the fuel economy of ICE vehicles also continues to improve. “Clearly Canadians are continuing to use their vehicles at high levels” commented Andrew King, Managing Partner at DAC. He continued “Even with a gradually changing fleet, gasoline consumption demonstrates that Canadians remain reliant on their vehicles and that broader usage patterns remain strong; a positive sign for the automotive aftermarket.” Gasoline consumption is one of the variables that factor into DAC’s kilometres driven forecast, and the forecasts of market size that we maintain for more than 25 different aftermarket product areas.
