Michigan We have an action alert we need your help with by the end of the day today! "Michigan is currently operating off of outdated 2015 energy codes for building new construction. Michigan statute states that the codes must be updated at least every six years, meaning that we are currently out of compliance with this law. We should be working to adopt the 2021 codes for both residential and commercial construction as swiftly as possible to move back into compliance. On behalf of a broad coalition of interested stakeholders, we would like to bring an important matter to your attention. We have diligently followed the adoption process for the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and we applaud the attention that LARA and JCAR have paid over the years to make sure we get this right. As the end of the legislative session approaches, we are so close to crossing the finish line and finally adopting these rules. With the rules submitted to JCAR, the final step is to wait out the 15 joint session days before the rules are adopted. Unfortunately, looking at the legislative calendar for the rest of the year, it is clear that these 15 joint session days will not occur before the clock runs out and the rules will have to be submitted all over again next year. Therefore, we strongly encourage JCAR to hold a meeting to waive the 15 joint session days and adopt the 2021 IECC before the end of session." We are excited to share that the TVA 2025 Draft Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and associated Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be published on Monday, September 23, at tva.com/irp. This announcement will appear in the Federal Register on Friday, September 27, opening the public comment period which will extend through November 26. The IRP provides strategic direction on how TVA will continue to provide low-cost, reliable, resilient, and increasingly cleaner electricity to the 10 million residents of the Valley region. TVA has worked closely with a diverse group of stakeholders throughout the process and provided opportunities for public feedback during the EIS scoping period. Stakeholder engagement and public involvement continue to be critical components of the IRP process. To ensure transparency and awareness, we will host 10 in-person public open houses across the Valley to provide an update on the 2025 Draft IRP and Draft EIS findings. TVA will also host two public virtual webinars. Dates, venue locations and details will be available on September 23 at tva.com/irp.
