How do you deal with supplier issues? Sourcing from Asia is profitable – no doubt about it. But it also has its complications. The culture is different. The attitude towards quality varies. Time zones are far from each other. One way of dealing with these issues is to hire a local employee. That way you will always have a staff member ready to handle any problems at the supplier. They will know the language and the way of doing business. Furthermore, they will physically be closer and in the same time zone. This is a huge advantage when dealing with issues. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲: 𝗢𝗽𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 As part of Our Land People Series, I would like to introduce our people who have been actively shaping our Singapore Land Transport Network to greater heights. Let's hear from Melanie Tsen, Operation Executive, on her experience with the Singapore Land Team. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺? As an Operations Executive, I play a vital role in ensuring that every aspect of our logistics operations runs smoothly. I add value to the department by enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. I work closely with drivers, logistics coordinators, and our technology systems to monitor shipments, optimize routes, and resolve any logistical challenges in real-time. Ultimately, the value I bring to the team lies in my ability to streamline operations, troubleshoot issues, and continually improve our service offering—empowering our clients to grow their businesses with the confidence that their logistics are in safe hands. Together, we drive forward the future of land transport with agility and precision. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? My most memorable experience was managing a high-priority shipment for a key client, and I encountered an unexpected road closure due to severe weather conditions. The shipment was time-sensitive, and any delay would have had a significant impact on the client's production schedule. In that moment, I quickly coordinated with the driver and the planning team, reviewed alternative routes, and engaged our network to find a solution that minimized disruption. Simultaneously, I maintained open communication with the client, keeping them updated every step of the way to manage expectations. After rerouting the shipment and closely monitoring its progress, we were able to successfully deliver it on time despite the challenges. This reinforced the importance of leveraging team resources effectively, and always keeping the customer informed. It was a rewarding moment that highlighted how critical problem-solving and teamwork are in operations. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀? I believe that in land transport is not just about moving goods; it’s about adding value at every stage of the journey. We are at the core of ensuring that we deliver seamless, efficient, and reliable transport solutions every day. #LandTeam #OurPeople #SGLandTeam #LifeAtLand #OurPeopleInLandTeam
