One of the biggest PR mistakes startups make is focusing too much on their product’s features rather than the problem they’re solving. Journalists and audiences aren’t just interested in what your product does; they want to know why it matters and how it’s making an impact. Another common mistake is sending out generic pitches. Personalizing your outreach and tailoring your story to the publication or journalist is key to getting noticed. Lastly, don’t forget to engage with the media outside of just promoting your product.
