At the Knott Foundation, we continually strive to refine our processes to better serve our community and the organizations we partner with. Earlier this year, we announced updates to our grantmaking policies that will take effect during our first grant cycle of 2025. Today, we’d like to revisit these changes, share the “why” behind them, and help you prepare for the year ahead. These updates are designed to bring greater transparency, efficiency, and intentionality to our grantmaking process, ensuring that we can continue to support meaningful, impactful work across our region while simultaneously lowering burdens on both applicants and Foundation staff. An examination of our grantmaking history tells us that only 28% of submitted Letters of Inquiry are advanced to the full proposal stage. To learn more about these changes, check out our latest blog post https://lnkd.in/eCz2PiTA

Today is Giving Tuesday: A Global Day of Giving Giving Tuesday is a global movement dedicated to generosity and positive change. At the Martin Family Initiative, we work in partnership with Indigenous communities across Canada to advance family, educational, and economic well-being for Indigenous children and youth. With your support, we can continue to: ▪️ Respond to Immediate Needs: Provide what families need, when they need it most. From Visitors who support new parents with advice and supplies like baby clothes and food, to transportation solutions that ensure students can attend their classes, your contributions help us adapt quickly to community priorities. ▪️Support Strong Programs: Fund the people who make everything happen. Behind every success is a team of coordinators, facilitators, and educators who help deliver literacy resources to classrooms, connect expecting parents with experienced caregivers, and guide youth in exploring entrepreneurship opportunities. ▪️Create Local Change: Partner with Indigenous communities to develop and deliver programs that reflect their unique strengths, traditions, and goals. Whether it's helping young children discover the joy of reading, mentoring high school students in financial literacy, or supporting school leaders with leadership courses, every effort is rooted in collaboration. ▪️Amplify indigenous Voices: Share and celebrate Indigenous perspectives by engaging Knowledge Keepers, educators, and artists. Through authentic storytelling, we bring Indigenous stories to more people, building connections and encouraging collaboration across Canada. MFI was founded by the Right Honourable Paul Martin with the belief that, "if we want Canada to succeed, Indigenous children must succeed." This Giving Tuesday, join us in creating pathways toward a better future. Every contribution strengthens our ability to act with purpose, support meaningful partnerships, and achieve lasting reconciliation. → Donate today: https://lnkd.in/eTux2qJz → Learn more about MFI: https://themfi.ca/ #GivingTuesday #IndigenousWellBeing
