Want a referral? Don't make these 3 mistakes 🔻 🚫 Generic requests: Asking, "Can you refer me to Google?" without any personalization or context. Be specific about why you’re a good fit. 🚫 Missing contact info: Not including your LinkedIn profile or phone number on your resume. Recruiters often prefer to call, and without this info, you might miss out. 🚫 Typos: Simple errors on your resume can make you seem less detail-oriented, which is a red flag for recruiters. When you ask for a referral, you're asking me to vouch for you. Make it easy by proving you're not just qualified, but also someone I'd want on my team. Don't rely solely on referrals—focus on building skills that make you stand out. Platforms like Preplaced offer mentorship to help with upskilling, interview prep, and quality referrals. If you're not getting responses, give it a try! Book a free session here: https://lnkd.in/dp93jJ6D You can utilize their network to get quality referrals. They have referred and helped people crack companies like Salesforce, Target, Accenture, Microsoft, Nagarro, HSBC and more. 💫 #referraltips #referrals #collab #preplacedcollab #hiring #jobsearch #referralmistakes

Software Engineer 2 @Uber ex-Deshaw | 50K+ followers | DM for referrals | NSIT(now NSUT) | Mentor | Singer and Guitarist | Youtuber | Competitive programmer | React | Golang | Fullstack | 30+ bookings on topmate
I failed interviews at Sprinklr, Google, and Microsoft. But a while later, I received multiple offers from Google, Uber, and even Salesforce. How did I make this possible? → By learning from my rejections and applying these lessons. ☑️ I studied OOPs, OS, and Computer Fundamentals to enhance my core knowledge. ☑️ Re-created my resume to ensure ATS compliance and built quality projects. ☑️ I struggled to qualify for OAs, so I amplified my DSA practice and solved common questions. These points were crucial for my career growth! And if you are looking for career growth too, SDEs at Preplaced can help you out. With their 1:1 mentorship program, they will help you practice the right questions, align your skills with industry standards, and crack your dream company 🚀 Book a FREE session with them here - https://lnkd.in/g2hMkdAT Moreover, you have the added advantage of referrals and ongoing support with them 💪🏻.

AI&Cloud Enthusiast/Networker/Sales and Business Development Expert/Alliance and Partnership/GF-Trader/Senior Director @Microsoft Ex-Océ/Ex-PGi/Advisory Board Member/Family Office/Tech-Lover/INSEAD-Alumni/C
Dear LinkedIn Community, I recently shared that I decided to leave Microsoft to pursue a new opportunity. In my search for the next step in my career, I focused on several key criteria: company culture, the enthusiasm and spirit of the people, market position, and most importantly, opportunities for growth and learning. Another crucial factor was finding a role where I could make a significant impact. Given these prerequisites, the list of potential companies was quite selective, but one stood out. I am thrilled to announce that, starting December 2nd, I will be joining ServiceNow and will be leading the Strategic Engagements for APAC, based out of Singapore. ServiceNow is a company I have closely observed over the years. It is a powerful platform provider which will become the defining enterprise software company of the 21th century #DESCO21C. ServiceNow helps organizations drive growth, reduce costs, and manage risk by connecting and automating workflows across various departments. The NOW Platform acts as a “System of Action” that integrates seamlessly with existing data and systems, enabling efficient processes without the need for system replacements. It leverages AI and automation to modernize manual processes, streamline workflows, and enhance productivity. This includes solutions for IT operations, customer service, HR, finance, and more. ServiceNow not only offers low-code tools that allow organizations to quickly scale and adapt to changing needs, but also improves both employee and customer experiences by providing intuitive interfaces and tools that empower users to get what they need when they need it. Essentially, ServiceNow puts AI to work in a rapid and cost-effective way. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Per Alm, Sirali Kewalramani, Detlef Krause, and William Foley for the insightful discussions during the hiring process. You truly ignited a fire in me, and I can’t wait to start in December. ##desco21C, #nowisthetime, #cannotwait

Referral increases your chances of getting hired by 5X. Yet, when someone reaches out to me for referral requests, 8 out of 10 are generic and lack context. Here are top 3 mistakes you are making. ⭕ Being Too Vague: "Hi, can you refer me?" Which role? What team? Be specific about the position you're targeting. ⭕ Immediate Asks: "Hello! I need a referral for the software engineer role at Microsoft." No context, no introduction. Build a connection before asking for favors. ⭕ Lack of Appreciation: "I saw you work at Microsoft. I need a referral ASAP." This feels entitled. Show gratitude and acknowledge that you're asking for their time and effort. Good referrals take time. Make it easy for the person helping you. I also understand that job search is exhausting, you might not know who to ask for referrals. So reach out to your network, family, and friends. You can also connect with mentors at Preplaced. Just get on a free call and share your problems: https://lnkd.in/dEh5uiWQ You can utilise their network to get quality referrals. They have referred and helped people land jobs at companies like Target, Salesforce, Accenture, Microsoft and more. PS: I have shared a sample template in the comments that you can use to create custom messages. 💫 #referrals #hiring #collab #preplacedcollab #jobsearch

It is a crazy job market out there! Since the start of 2024, multiple companies (Salesforce, Dell, SAP, PayPal, DocuSign, Snapchat, Workday, Zoom, Okta and Wipro and counting) have all announced #layoffs, which has been consistent across the market the last ~15 months. 💡 What does this mean if you are currently a university student/recent grad? -Take every phone call with a recruiter (you never know what a connection now could lead to or if their opportunity could actually align great with you) -Understand what is important to you when evaluating a job (growth, compensation, location, mentorship, etc.) and rank them so you are prepared when evaluating offers -When you get to speak with a recruiter be excited and show up! (ask questions to try and get answers to what is important to you) -Challenge yourself to see the big picture (if I take X job because of XYZ reason and they lay me off, will I have gained valuable training, connections, mentorship, skills that I can take with me somewhere else?) -Network, network, network! (get on LinkedIn and research companies and alumni to add to your network) -Do your research (if you aren't finding a job that aligns, write down what you like and don't like. Look up job descriptions to see how you could align. Research career paths and companies that have been sustainable YoY) If you have been contacted by a recruiter for an intro call, feel grateful and excited! Not everyone has the chance in the market we have been apart of over the last 1.5 years.
