#COBR's in situ recovery bench scale study on Boland Project rare earth samples is now complete! The results: ✅ Successfully demonstrate the low-cost, low-disturbance ISR process ✅ Show further recovery increases, with valuable magnet rare earths up from 48% to 57% ✅ Indicate low levels of impurities and acid consumption Achieving these recoveries through a process that eliminates physical mining and clay treatment is truly exceptional. ACDC Metals has dropped a very strong Scoping Study for the Goschen Central project, where a mining operation is paired with downstream REE processing to deliver great returns. Congrats to the team who over delivered on this one. Mineral sand monazite utilization is an excellent example of resource optimisation, where the overall footprint of mining is reduced by capturing the full value when ground is disturbed. Two main things that I am taking away: 1️⃣ Mining never comes alone! Mining operations bring along infrastructure, roads, trucks, external labour, ports etc. Indigenous communities often find themselves at the centre of these developments. Considerations must extend beyond just the mine site. 2️⃣ Self-determination is key, making Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) crucial. Rare earth elements form a group of 15 chemical elements that occur together in the periodic table plus two adjacent elements (scandium and yttrium). These elements are all metals that share similar properties, resulting in them being found together in geological deposits. They can be found in #Ontario, near the Sturgeon Falls, Elliot Lake, Lackner Lake and Kapuskasing areas. These critical minerals are commonly used in electronics and magnets, and as catalysts. Gold Mining Crushing and grinding Now the ore is out of the ground, it needs to be processed. Once recovered from the mine, the ore is fed into a crusher at a processing plant. The huge jaws crush the rock to small pebble-sized pieces which then go to the mill. Steel balls roll around inside the mill, crushing the rock further into dust. Water is added at this point to turn the rock into slurry. The slurry is then pumped into a cyclone, which spins allowing coarser materials to fall to the bottom, before being crushed and ground again. Lighter material is pushed up and onto the next stage. Coarser gold is recovered with a gravity circuit. Different elements settle at different rates, so a gravity circuit uses water and pulses to agitate the slurry.
