As the Fannin County Development Authority (FCDA) looks toward the future, and addresses various opportunities and challenges, we want to take the opportunity to acknowledge the progress made in the past year. We remain focused on our mission to support local businesses while also working to attract new, desirable business partners. Among the highlights: 1). With support from local entrepreneurs and county leaders, we launched an upgraded new website: fannindevelopment.com, which includes a new logo and updated branding of our department. 2). We worked to improve communications efforts across the board, building stronger working relationships with county and regional stakeholders. 3). We established an FCDA board, identifying mutual goals and objectives while developing a strategic plan for the long-term success of the county and its residents. 4). We worked to strengthen relationships/partnerships with a variety of local entities, including: · The Blue Ridge Chamber of Commerce · The Downtown Business Authority · Fannin County Leadership, Board of Commissioners · University of North Georgia · Fannin Regional Hospital Questions we are addressing, with the help of local leaders: § How can we attract the type of new business that will provide desirable jobs for graduating students who want to remain here, while providing new opportunities for our current workforce? § What infrastructure improvements do we need to prepare for future needs? § How will we manage growth to expand business opportunities without sacrificing the rural charm or natural beauty of Fannin County? § What can be done to provide more affordable housing? § How can we continue to improve communications while building new partnerships with local and regional leaders?

When looking at choosing a B Corp consultant, it's more than just picking someone that can get you to 80 points. It's about picking someone that knows the community, has been in the game long enough to have seen just about everything [good and bad], and whose superpower is building interconnected ecosystems of purpose driven businesses. It's about someone who can introduce you to the community, make valuable connections, and understands how to realize the ROI of your certification, i.e., doing well by doing good. Listen in as our Founder, Nathan A. Stuck, MBA, talks to CIRT about his many hats (B Local Georgia, B Academics, BLD Southeast), and his philosophy of changing the world by changing the way we teach, and do business. And if you're thinking about certifying your business, give us a shout.
Nathan A. Stuck, MBA is the founder of B Local Georgia , founder and CEO of Profitable Purpose Consulting , the 2020 community builder award winner, co-founder and executive director of BLD Southeast , board member of B Academics , lecturer at University of Georgia - Terry College of Business, and the list goes on! Nathan does invaluable work for B Lab and B Corporations. B Local Georgia's specialty is to help companies reach B Corp status. Nathan was integral to CIRT reaching B Corp status in July of 2023. I am thrilled to tell you that I will be hosting a mayoral business husting in April, focusing on Greater Manchester’s business community. The event has been organised by a coalition of the city region’s business organisations: the Federation of Small Businesses, the CBI, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the Institute of Directors, the Institute of Chartered Accountants England & Wales, and pro-manchester. All the details and registration are here - https://lnkd.in/eV639bz2 Husting events are a unique opportunity for voters – in this case business leaders – to engage directly with all the mayoral candidates to gain invaluable insights into their visions for Greater Manchester’s future ahead of the 2nd May elections. So, what exactly is a husting? Picture it as a platform where candidates from all the major parties converge to present their plans for Greater Manchester’s economic future. It’s not about words; it’s about substance. Candidates will discuss tangible strategies to stimulate growth, ignite innovation, and cultivate an environment where businesses can flourish. For those unfamiliar with hustings events, they resemble a BBC Question Time style format, offering voters and candidates an opportunity to really engage. Candidates get the opportunity to spotlight their core policies and articulate their vision for our City Region’s economy, while voters can delve into the specifics of each agenda and help to make informed decisions on election day. At the heart of this event will be the Greater Manchester business agenda. Every aspect of our economic landscape will be under scrutiny: - from addressing business challenges, to delivering prosperity across all of our boroughs and diverse communities; - from securing environmental sustainability, to optimising public sector procurement; - from nurturing education and developing skills, to enhancing transport infrastructure. - and anything else the audience want to ask the candidates… And it’s you, our city region’s stakeholders, who will be driving the conversation with your questions. This hustings isn’t merely about making promises; it’s about presenting practical solutions and tangible actions that will shape the future of our city region for years to come. Whether you’re a seasoned business owner, an aspiring entrepreneur, or simply a concerned citizen invested in our region’s prosperity, please put the date in your calendars and reserve your complimentary tickets. Join us on April 17th for an interesting evening of political engagement, with business at its heart. I look forward to seeing you at the hustings!
