Hi LinkedIn Family! This post is going to be a little different... My first "first day" was one of the hardest days of my career. I remember sitting at my desk and feeling like I was just a character in costume, pretending to be a professional. I was a college kid with no experience or formal education in the field I was entering into. Why am I in this position? How can I deserve to be in this position? Can I really be what they think I am? I spent every day trying to prove that I was the person for the role, until I wasn't. Imposter Syndrome messed with my mental state so badly, I remember thinking, "Maybe I really didn't deserve the opportunity in the first place." That was almost 2 years ago. I look back and see how much that feeling and fear had held me back. I can now proudly say that I am who I am. I am a young professional. I am a learner. I am a leader. I am an overcomer.
