Fun Facts about summertime in the world. 1. The word "summer" comes from the Old English word "sumor," which means "season of the year when the days are longest." (in the Philippines is always the same hehe) 2. Watermelon, one of the iconic summer fruits, is actually a vegetable related to cucumbers, pumpkins, and squash. 3. The Eiffel Tower can grow by more than 6 inches during the summer due to the expansion of its iron structure under the heat of the sun. 4. Summer solstice marks the longest day and shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, usually occurring around June 21st. 5. Dehydration is a significant risk during summer, so it's essential to drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially when engaging in outdoor activities. 6. Many cultures around the world celebrate summer solstice with festivals and traditions, such as the famous Midsummer celebrations in Scandinavia. #summer #makati #philippines #airbnb #terrace #balcony #wfh #aircon

Tomorrow 4th of January World Braille Day is celebrated. This day aims to raise awareness of the importance of Braille as a means of communication in the full realization of the human rights of blind and partially sighted people. According to the United Nations, people with disabilities are less likely to access employment, education, health care and to participate in the community. The lockdown posed several issues in particular for people who rely on the use of touch to communicate. This is why, it was understood how critically important is to produce essential communication in accessible formats, such as audible formats and Braille. In the realm of sustainable tourism, inclusivity and accessibility for people with disabilities are pivotal considerations to ensure a truly equitable and enriching travel experience for all. From wheelchair-accessible facilities to sensory-friendly attractions, the integration of universal design principles not only enhances the overall travel experience for people with disabilities but also contributes to the broader goals of sustainable tourism by fostering social inclusion and economic opportunities. In the middle of October, when nature changes colour from green to yellow, red and brown, and mornings are foggy and evenings cold, Danish children have a small break from school. Danes are always excited for this hygge family time - but it wasn't always like that. Can anyone spot one other “gringo” in the crowd with me?? People often ask me why I choose to live in a so called “third-world country”, in one of the worlds Top 10 most dangerous cities, where only 1% of the population speak English… ...and my answer is simple; Perspective & positivity Living here amidst the vibrant energy of the welcoming and warm Brazilian people in this weeks celebrations of Carnaval, has taught me lessons no classroom or boardroom ever could. It's about embracing diversity, understanding resilience, and the sheer joy found in communities coming together, even against the odds. This city, with its challenges, is also a place of untold beauty, unwavering spirit, and incredible warmth - most of it not spoken in my native tongue, but felt deeply in every beat of the music, every smile and caiphirinha shared during these festivities. It's a reminder to me that life's richest experiences often come from the most unexpected places. So, why do I choose to stay? Because every day, this 'third world' city teaches me something new about the world, about humanity, about life and about myself. And that, to me, is worth more than all the ‘riches’ I could find anywhere in the so-called 'first world'. God bless Brazil and its uniquely positive people 🙏🏽🇧🇷 #remotework #livingabroad #gringoinbrazil #carnaval #brazil #brasil #homeoffice

After enjoying the Heritage Day festivities, I'm reminded of the incredible tapestry of cultures that make up our world. It's not just about the festivities; it's about honoring and respecting the rich cultural differences that enrich our lives. In today's interconnected world, we find ourselves in various roles and spaces, be it at work, in our communities, or online. It's crucial that in these spaces, we have the courage to show up as our authentic selves. Respecting cultural differences is not just a noble idea; it's a fundamental principle of a harmonious society. It means allowing others to be themselves without judgment or prejudice. We live in an age of information overload, and ignorance is no longer an excuse. Education is no longer confined to classrooms; it's about continually learning about the diverse world we inhabit and the amazing individuals who share this space with us. Remember, it takes immense strength to be your true and authentic self in a world that often pushes conformity. But it's through embracing our uniqueness and celebrating our differences that we can truly thrive as individuals and as a global community. #CulturalDiversity #Inclusivity #EmbraceYourself

This holiday season, let's remember that the value of a gift isn't measured by its price tag, but by the thoughtfulness behind it. It’s the little things, given with love, that make the festivities truly special. #DiamondRealtyUpstate #DRUsc #DRUtr #travelersresthere #yeahTHATgreenville #hereingreer #thisisgreer #spartanburgsc #upstatesc #simpsonvillesc #easleysc #greersc #upstaterealestate #travelersrestrealestate #greenvillerealestate

Often we talk about differences, let's talk about things in common 😀 #ChineseNewYear and the #CologneCarnival share some similarities despite being from different #cultures. Here are the top five things they have in common: 1️⃣ Festive Atmosphere ❗ Both the Chinese New Year and the Cologne Carnival are celebrated with great enthusiasm and a festive atmosphere. People come together to enjoy the festivities, indulge in traditional foods, and participate in various cultural activities. 2️⃣ Street Parades and Processions ❗ Both celebrations feature colorful street parades and processions. During Chinese New Year, dragon and lion dances and other traditional performances are included. Similarly, the Cologne Carnival includes elaborate parades with floats, costumes, and music. 3️⃣ Symbolism and Tradition ❗ Both events are deeply rooted in symbolism and tradition. Chinese New Year marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is associated with various customs and rituals believed to bring good luck and prosperity. The Cologne Carnival has its own set of traditions, such as the election of the Carnival Prince and Princess and the Rosenmontag (Rose Monday) parade. 4️⃣ Community Engagement ❗ Both celebrations involve strong community engagement. Families and friends come together to celebrate and participate in the festivities. There's a sense of unity and togetherness during these occasions, with people sharing joy and happiness. 4️⃣ Cultural Significance ❗ Chinese New Year and the Cologne Carnival hold significant cultural importance for the respective communities. They are integral to the cultural heritage and are celebrated with pride and reverence, carrying on age-old traditions passed down through generations. By the way, there are also some business implications: ☝ Total #turnover for carnival session 2023/2024 is estimated at 1,73 billion Euro ☝ I found only a piece of information about an online payment platform with counted 6,2 billion transactions with a value of 570 billion Euro 😯 Well if anybody has better numbers, please comment below So wishing everybody a happy #chinesenewyear and a great carnival time, enjoy 🎉
