You know who does a great job going upstream for talent? Amazon. Amazon's Career Choice program has been delivering free training to hourly employees, relatively quietly, for over a decade, in partnership with a highly vetted roster of best-in-class training providers. The training is opinionated — it prepares trainees for real jobs with high market demand. The participants get paid while they're reskilling — they don't need to manage a pay gap to start a new career. And now, Amazon itself hires many of those workers into higher-ceiling careers after their training is finished. Career Choice is smart and effective, and I immediately thought of them when I met Tandem Workforce — it's infrastructure that lets *any* employer implement this model themselves. The big bonus here: You'll be making your organization a better competitor for this talent pool, against Amazon — the company that's really figured it out.
One big takeaway from a lot of recent conversations with healthcare providers: we’re in the midst of a great race upstream to find nursing talent (also great input from John Danaher John Beatty and David Jones). Second big takeaway? A lot of hospitals are really struggling to compete for this new talent pool, let alone develop it. Here’s how it works: to solve a nation-wide nursing shortage, you don’t focus on recruiting at the nursing level. You focus several layers down, at your entry-level medical assistant inflows. You build up that pool of talent and develop them with partners like Tandem Workforce (ahem). So that way, when nurses leave, you have a ready pool of internal talent to promote up into those roles. It ensures continuity, retention, and saves you money in the long term that’d be lost to staffing gaps, expensive nursing recruiting, and contract hires. The problem? This means health systems ALSO need to learn how to compete for a completely new pool of talent. Yes, you’re fishing in a much bigger pond of unspecialized talent. But that also means you’re now competing for talent against the likes of Amazon and the restaurant down the street. It means you’re trying to pitch a career against a paycheck in 5 days. A complete talent on-ramp solution has to have those competitive incentives built in. You know what incentivizes people? Finding out that you’re going to cover the training they need to launch a high-earning, stable career that would otherwise be unattainable to them. It changes the relationship with that employee - permanently.

Introducing an exciting partnership opportunity that can address your healthcare workforce needs while providing you with highly skilled and dedicated professionals. At FVI, we collaborate with healthcare providers to develop tailored programs that align with your specific talent needs. In 2023, we helped Memorial Healthcare System train 47 Patient Care Assistants of which 45 are now employed full time. As per projections, South Florida (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties) will need an additional 4,000 Nursing Assistants (NA)/ Patient Care Technicians (PCT) and close to 2,200 Medical Assistants (MA) by 2031. Florida Hospital Association reports that Florida hospitals experienced 36% turnover rates and 12% vacancy rates. We believe that these trends require a new strategic approach to talent acquisition. Employers and educational institutions must unite to address the widening gap between the demand for skilled healthcare professionals and the diminishing supply of qualified graduates. Imagine custom-tailored training programs designed to meet your organization's unique talent needs. A recruitment process that attracts a dedicated pool of candidates aligned with your organization’s culture. Our goal is to work closely with you to understand your workforce requirements and create a customized training and recruitment plan that aligns perfectly with your goals. Whether you need nursing assistants, medical assistants, or other allied health professionals, we have the expertise to fulfill your needs. Invest in the future and contribute to the growth of the next generation of healthcare professionals. For additional details, email me: acardona@fvi.edu

The physician shortage that we have long feared is already here. I wrote a couple of articles on this for LinkedIn previously. It’s an urgent crisis … hitting every corner of this country—urban and rural—with the most direct impact hitting families with high needs and limited access. Trust that this shortage is about to get much worse. Additionally, this shortage of medical professionals has now grown to include a nationwide deficit of Registered Nurses. In the last 5 years, it has become increasingly more difficult for the healthcare organization’s Human Resource Professional to successfully recruit Physicians or Nurses on their own; I speak from personal experience! The supply and demand balance has definitely shifted and the need for partnering with 3rd party resources is greater than ever. “MEDICAL PROVIDER RECRUITERS” is independently owned. We provide medical provider candidates to healthcare organizations on a contingency basis only. This means that no search fee costs are owed by our clients until after the medical provider begins work for the organization. Since we are a father & son team and have no overhead, we are able to offer our clients the lowest search fees in the nation. Let us help you fill your open positions. You literally have nothing to lose! Medical Provider Recruiters: Larry Gilbert (209) 416 -9616 larrygilbert663@gmail.com Troy Gilbert (208) 860-9955 troygilly@gmail.com

Despite ongoing efforts to enhance recruitment strategies, 80% of healthcare executives continue to face challenges when filling vacant nursing positions over the past year. We share proprietary data from 1500 US hospitals and surveyed over 100 top healthcare leaders. These were their biggest obstacles: 🩺 High competition from other healthcare organizations (40%). If one hospital is feeling the effects of a shortage, you can guarantee they all are. 🏥 A limited pool of qualified nurses in the local area (22%): Some areas have greater nurse shortages than others, adding yet another layer of competition to the recruiting process. 💻 Difficulty recruiting nurses for specialized roles (15%): Some specialties are more popular than others, making them easier to recruit for.
