The aerospace sector outlook remains positive, with lengthy order books at the primes (Airbus and Boeing) and total passenger flying hours in 2024 on schedule to exceed post-pandemic levels, supporting a strong aftermarket. The former will assist margin recovery for Melrose Industries PLC’ original equipment (OE) operations, while increased flying hours are already generating strong growth and margin in the aftermarket business. Delivery of Power-to-Liquid (PtL) proxy fuel produced by Sasol for our #CLIM0ART flight mission. This badge made a long journey all the way from South Africa to the EDMO airport Oberpfaffenhofen. Getting it here was a joint effort from Deutsche Aircraft , Sasol and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. and certainly a lot of work for Regina Pouzolz, Victor Burger an Erik Sorgendal - to name just a few of the people involved. The shortage of capacity is a HUGE problem in Aviation today. The impact is full flights and happy airlines, but screwed unhappy customers. There are several drivers. What is interesting though is whether this situation is short/near term or long term. The shortage of aircraft therefore is either systemic or its an aberration. But which? Frankly speaking - currently there is such a massive shortage that it's like AirBnB's influence on the real estate market. And another challenge is the speed and flexibility of the provider/source of the aircraft. My take is that the drive to efficiency in Aviation was so well driven that old supplemental or charter carriers that supported short term leasing, all largely disappeared. AIr Belgium has swapped its business model multiple times. But there is a shortage and there is a demand. Its peaking now. (Thank you OEMs). And this plane - one of 2 A330NEOs that were operated by the airline... is currently PARKED. That makes little sense, unless you realize just how complex this capability is without that extensive supply of ad hoc product.
