When pilots lose autonomy or their stake in an airline, seniority systems can become more of a trap than a benefit. Pilots might stay out of necessity—bound by seniority that offers security but little satisfaction—leading to disengagement. The illusion of control by the company can result in reduced productivity and loyalty, ultimately hurting profits. Airlines that empower pilots with decision-making and clear paths to leadership roles foster a more engaged and motivated workforce. When autonomy is preserved, you not only keep experienced pilots, but you also secure long-term profitability. #aviation #pilot #pilotlife #flying #airplane #avgeek #futurepilot #aviationphotography #commercialpilot #privatepilot #airlines #atc #generalaviation #careergoals #aviationindustry #newpilot #sectormastery #aviationcareers #climbingtheladder #professionalpilot #growinginaviation

How "Brake to Vacate" Works on Airbus A380 & A350...to clarify; AUTOBRAKE is applied & MODULATED via BTV - to achieve the required speed at the desired exit... Why use it? Lower brake temperatures, less brake wear, increased passenger comfort & faster turnarounds (less time waiting for brakes to cool). It saves time & money. Helps result in lower runway occupancy times, because exit at correct speed & desired rwy exit point is more assured. After runway & desired exit are selected by the pilot during cruise, velocity data from within the aircraft's GPS/IRS is used after touchdown to monitor the required deceleration, modulating AUTOBRAKE automatically to achieve the exit at the desired speed. Can be disconnect by; use of manual brakes, speedbrake disarmed, or button on thrust levers. All feel natural. Becomes second nature to the crew, and they can revert to regular autobrake or manual braking at any time. Lufthansa pilots not allowed to make visual approaches at night! See my explanation below: “In extremely busy airports like SFO, an airliner/aircraft can request an ILS approach, while visual approaches are being conducted. However, in order to accommodate that request, ATC must break into a very tight lines of in trail separation, often in place, hundreds of miles in each cardinal direction from that airport. Therefore, those pilots with such requests must understand they may encounter extended delays until a safe gap is created. There is however, nothing preventing the same crew to follow or “backup” with an ILS or other Precision approach guidence to their assigned runway (like any prudent pilot would) and maintain safe visual distance from other aircraft. The other issue is, you don’t argue with ATC or others on the busy frequency. You call them on the phone after you are safely parked at the gate. And l am very sorry to say, if a professional airline pilot cannot be trusted to make a simple visual approach in perfect conditions, day or night, they don’t belong in the air!” BTW, I don’t blame the crew, l blame stupid management decisions. #lufthansa #SFO #ATC #pilots #airsafety #airlinepilot #visualapproaches

Yes: a tester can be even more important than any one airline pilot — and realize it. A tester can support the entire community of airline pilots, and help make a safer world for all of us. This, dear testers, is an examplar of what a tester can be. Deep domain knowledge; deep technical skills; deep determination to learn even more. And, dear managers and developers, have a look at Alex’s work. It’s an exemplar of what great testing can look like—especially if you decide you want it, and especially if you foster an environment and a community that supports it.
I often got that question: Why did you stopped being an airline/test pilot? Answer: With my expertise in complex System Of Systems combined with operational needs, I bring more value and safety into critical systems rather than flying safely and timely passengers from A to B.

✈️ A new survey by the European Cockpit Association reveals troubling trends for Luxembourg’s two leading airlines. Luxair saw pilot satisfaction levels drop by nearly 20 percentage points, landing at 68%. Cargolux Airlines, despite an overall good rating of 80%, has seen a decrease in satisfaction, with pilots raising concerns about fatigue and the increasing use of temporary contracts. 💡 Read the full story (FREE): https://bit.ly/3BDTzxY

#customerservice #workethics #values My flight out of Mumbai was delayed by 6 hours. Naturally, it caused problems like any such delay does. However, once we boarded, the pilot took almost 5 minutes to explain why the delay happened. It seems, Lufthansa flies pilots and crew for this particular aircraft from Frankfurt to Munich previous day. But due to thunderstorms and bad weather, flight's got cancelled, and they couldn't send the crew on time, hence the delay. I liked the earnestness and sincerity with which the pilot explained the situation and the genuine regret. Good lesson: Be honest and transparent with the customer at all times, even more in a problematic situation.
