⚠️ 💸 NO CLIENT LOGOS ON YOUR HOMEPAGE!
Who doesn’t love the authority prosthesis of a big brand’s #logo to reference your ability to handle corporate clients in the context of #design or specifically #industrialdesign. Here’s why I have just eliminated ALL logos of brands, that I am or have been working with from my #homepage…
🪦 A graphic design colleague close to a dear friend of mine has just been fined to pay 22.5k€ for copyright violations due to simply displaying clients’ logos, since the author (meaning the actual designer of the logo) had not approved the use.
👩⚖️ Consulted lawyers called it “naive” to use logos without the approval of the logos’ authors – even if your client might have told you, it‘s okay. They say the fine is basically nothing more, than an author’s invoice for usage rights and is legal in this particular case.
🤖 So this morning, I directly switched from using logos to simply naming the clients or moreover just not even mentioning them. I feel like the testimonies speak for themselves and went to “Better safe, than sorry.”
Or am I overreacting…?
Here’s one last corporate client flex 💪 and a farewell to the corporates, that are no longer visible on my HP, but will ALWAYS be close to my heart 🫶

Join us at the Brand Registry Group for some serious chat… with information so thought provoking, that makes you want to stop and listen, even our Board learn something new from each other. Why? Because our expertise are so varied we always bring something new to the table in each and every session.
How much can you talk about a dotBrand strategy? A lot actually… everyday is a new day because we really cannot predict what anyone will encounter in the online space at any point but it’s good to discuss a contingency plan before certain events could happen right? More importantly each Board Director or member will also encounter different scenarios in their working life as a matter of fact so imagine being able to sit in the same space and knowledge share. Take Crews Gore President of the Brand Registry Group for example… managing a 3 letter generic dictionary word FOX will be a completely different ball game to what Martin Kuechenthal also on the Board of the BRG and CEO at LEMARIT GmbH will encounter working with several different clients and protecting their less generic but equally valuable brands… together their experiences are valuable and knowledge sharing is what we are all about… it’s a passion actually. You either know domain names and brand protection, or you don’t, and at the BRG we REALLY do !!!
Want to know more? Visit brandregistrygroup.org or pop by to one of our open sessions at ICANN meetings. We had a great discussion at ICANN79 Puerto Rico and would love to see you at future meetings.

Founder & Director of The Occasional Kitchen | Restaurant quality dining experiences ANYWHERE | Master of large-scale event catering | Sustainability and real living wage advocate
Massive well done to Rupert Bassadone 📍🎪 and Event Site Design. Such an accolade, so well deserved!
Its down to Rupert, and WOMAD Ltd, that we moved into live events.
The Occasional Kitchen, started organically, with supperclubs/pop ups growing into weddings and small markets, as opportunities were presented to us. Sometime in 2013, we started talking about the possibility of doing a pop-up restaurant at Womad, we’d been attending Womad, as punters for years, so were delighted at the opportunity.
In the run up to 2014’s festival, Rupert asked if we’d consider doing the crew food too. The rest, as they say, is history!
Thank you Rupert.
This award obviously represents a team effort, and your team are exceptional, but indulge me, if you will …
We joke about it all the time, but it’s still mind blowing to everyone who meets you, that you are able to hold an important conversation in person, whilst still listening to endless radio chat, and pick out anything vital that needs your attention. That ability to compartmentalise your brain, without dropping the ball, is ridiculous.
You’re the benchmark we measure Ops Managers against, seriously. “ I mean they’re good, but are they Rupert good” - I’ve heard variations of that sentiment, more than I’m sure you’d allow yourself to believe.
You work incredibly hard, and you’ve successfully managed to recruit, and inspire, a really great team of people around you. That doesn’t happen by accident.
I’ll leave you with this gem. It’s a piece of advice, I don’t think you realise you gave me, that I share with other people, often. (I’m sure I don’t always credit you either! 🤣)
” When recruiting people, for your team, find people that are better than you. When choosing contractors, choose the best, and then trust them to do their job”

We only went and bloody won!
The judges said we were "something different to the market that every event organiser needs"
Who am I to argue? 😅
So frickin' proud of the incredible work the whole team put into making Event Site Design what is is.
What a start to the year.
