CREATING KNOWARE PT 8 – REFLECTIONS FROM Clare Somerville [ONE OF KNOWARE’S FOUNDERS] – RUNNING A COMPANY Running a company is hard work. I admire the people who can draw a line between personal and professional lives, and ensure they look after both. Sometimes I worry my daughter did not get enough of my time and attention growing up, but then again, I think maybe there is such a thing as having too much of me. She assures me she’s OK. I met one of my favourite long-term managers the other day – I rate him as up there with the best managers I ever came across. He was berating himself for breaking his usual rule and doing some work at the weekend. Too much work over a long period with long days and often nights. At least I was home, but that was one very cold office downstairs where the insulation is a bit lacking and the central heating weak. I always found it demanding doing hands-on client work as well as running the company. You want to do your best. One client did remark on the time of my email report delivery being 11:59 pm on the date of delivery. But at least I wasn’t late. The annoying thing was re-reading the front page of the report the next day and spotting a typo. More is not always best. #BusinessAnniversary #21YearsStrong #MilestoneCelebration

I may have been on the front cover of the officer career development handbook, but I’m quite sure I didn’t follow the steps in this book to the letter But I still had a successful career I’m proud of. There’s rule books and guides for everything Handrails. That’s all they are. There is rarely a ‘perfect formula’ that can be applied by everyone. The reason? There’s a human element to all of this. It’s exactly the same with your health and wellbeing. Are you doing what you can? Are you being honest with yourself? Are you following the trajectory. You don’t need to hit the bullseye to play darts. Decide goal > orientate to goal > take actions that move you closer to this goal That - is - it.

📏 When I understood the importance of establishing Control Points in surveying, I started applying this concept to my life. 🎯 Establishing control helps organize thoughts, streamline decision-making, and stay on track to achieve your goals. 🚀 Additionally, having well-defined control points makes you resilient to pressures and distractions. 💪 #Surveying #LifeLessons #GoalSetting #Resilience

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐭 - 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞 Before leaving your job, it's essential to have a strategic exit plan. Never resign without securing a new position or having a financial safety net. Encountering difficult supervisors is common in work places, but quitting in anger isn't the solution. Carefully consider your options and plan your next move to avoid financial instability. #Careerinsights #Humanresources

Notice period pe employee kam Kyu nai karta? An employee in their notice period often stops adding value. But why? Two reasons: They know they’re leaving. You know they’re leaving. They think, “Why bother? I’m on my way out.” You think, “What’s the point? They’re not invested anymore.” It becomes a cycle—a self-fulfilling prophecy. But I’m reminded of the age-old adage: “If you think you can, you can. If you think you cannot, you won’t.” What if we approached it differently? If you want a departing employee to add value: - Expect and encourage their continued contribution. - Value their efforts genuinely. - Be happy for their growth and next steps. In my experience, I’ve seen employees give their best until the last day—and even beyond. The difference? I valued them, respected their decision to leave, and believed in their contribution. And they responded. Image: This is from one such employee leaving us some months ago. He added value till the last minute and maybe even after that. #EmployeeEngagement #LeadershipInsights #NoticePeriod #WorkCulture #EmployeeRetention #ValuingPeople #GrowthMindset #MotivationMatters #PositiveWorkplace #CareerGrowth #TeamCulture #ReflectAndGrow #WorkRelationships #LeadershipDevelopment #RespectAndTrust
