We've recently been asked, "Are TekPak Solutions Omnidegradable products compostable"? Answer: Municipal compost facilities want products to decompose in 8-12 weeks in order to be considered "compostable." Our packaging takes a little longer, so we do not claim it is "compostable." It is biodegradable in many more places, such as anaerobic landfills and oceans (except any non-Omnidegradable component, like a Tin Tie). While the transition from #plastictopaper is accelerating it needs to take the full ecosystem into account as opposed to just the end usage! And that includes like for like impact of green house gas emission, impact on water table and aquatic lives, and impact on cultivable land that in turn affects the overall habitat. Jumping from one to another without consideration of full impact will create a problem elsewhere down the line! #Sustainability should be a consideration for end to end value chain not just end usage!
