Even though #Vivatech2024 had its quirks, I am happy that I went to #Paris to experience it. I just left my suggestions for improvements in their survey, eg better reception for startups like our teamdecoder at all booths, or less restrictions to enter the meeting areas, and I hope we'll be having fruitful continued conversations with Capgemini, IBM watsonx, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Germany Trade & Invest and others! Discover the results of the MEDIATOR project, an EU initiative focused on developing an intelligent system for safe transition control between drivers and automated systems, based on fitness to drive. 🗓️ Date: May 24, 10:45-11:10 🏢 Venue: SAFER, Demostudion or Teams 🔍 About MEDIATOR: The development of automation technology posed significant risks such as misuse and overreliance. To address these concerns, a European consortium, including SAFER partners, collaborated on MEDIATOR, an intelligent system designed to safely transition control between drivers and automated systems based on fitness to drive. Over four years, MEDIATOR integrated cutting-edge artificial intelligence techniques to assess driver state, automation status, and driving context, aiming to create a prototype validated through simulator and on-road studies across various scenarios and transport modes. Hello lovely LinkedIn connections and happy Tuesday :) It’s long overdue, but I’ve just updated my website with some of the recent work that I’m really proud to be involved with and I wanted to share a few highlights. It’s been an incredible journey so far this year – from hosting the *Stockholm Chamber of Commerce* ‘Unleashed’ event, where I explored how effectively Technolgy is being used in the Region alongside a fascinating panel looking at ‘what is true happiness’ with Nordic business leaders, to being chosen to Host the *Financial Times Future of the Car Summit*, alongside some of the incredible FT Journalists which delved deep into how innovation will transform the Automotive Industry. A dream come true for me as an utter Car nerd :) And it doesn’t stop there! I’m thrilled to be back with FT Live in November for their *Future of AI Summit*. With AI shaping industries across the globe, this is one event I can’t wait to dive into – it’s going to be groundbreaking. On top of all that, I have a super busy Awards Season starting next week, which is one of my favorite things to Present, celebrating incredible achievements. And of course some very cool projects I’ve worked on with Scan Computers who I’m proud to have worked with weekly now for the past 8 years!! …and next year already looks really exciting as I add to my sports presenting experience and dive further into AI’s evolving role. So, as I reflect on a busy and exciting year with lots of learnings I’d love to know - what great things have you been involved in this year at work? What exciting things do you have coming up? Think Fast: ENGINE FAILURE. In critical situations, every second counts. In the air, we use some simple techniques to focus on what matters most. Rather than trying to memorize pages and pages of technical details, we just remember "ABCDE," and that helps us make the most of a scary situation. A: Airspeed: Pitch your nose DOWN as needed. Use gravity to maintain the airspeed that gives you the best possible glide distance. (and resist the urge to pitch your nose up... it seems like a nice idea to point away from the ground, but it slows you down, and then your situation gets worse.) B: Best Place to Land: Look around. See what you've got for options. There might even be an airport within easy glide range. Piece of cake! C: Cockpit: What's going on in the airplane? Is the key still in? Is fuel still flowing to the engines? Anything else we can try? D: Declare: Get in touch with Air Traffic, and declare an emergency. They've got your back. E: Execute: Make the best possible landing you can. There are a few more steps -- and make no mistake: it's scary as hell -- but this mnemonic is easy to remember, and gives you some structure when part of you wants to freak out. This type of structured thinking can benefit you in all sorts of crises.
