It always brings a smile to my face when people tell me "that can't be done!" In the 19th Century it was a wide held belief that the human body could not travel faster than 40 mph for anything longer than a short burst (a galloping horse, for example). This was the maximum speed established for all trains. It was believed that if anyone attempted to travel faster than that, their heads would explode! Others believed passengers would go mad and jump from the train! This was considered "fact" for years!!! Today commercial aircraft travels around 550 mph...and I'm not familiar with any instances of people exploding. When it comes to processes it's easy to write off ideas because of "known" limits. Always take a step back and strongly consider running the experiment. We may learn that the limit we all believe to be true simply don't exist. Stay curious and challenge everything! #continuousimprovement #kata #operationalexcellence #Leanculture #Leanthinking #Learning

🦜 Unlocking Potential: Lessons from a Talking bot 🌟 Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting a remarkable bot that could mimic human speech. Beyond the novelty, observing this feathered friend taught me a few valuable lessons applicable to our professional lives: Adaptability: Much like this bot learns and adapts its speech to its environment, professionals must continuously adapt to new technologies, market trends, and customer expectations. Communication: The bot reminded me of the power of clear and effective communication. Whether speaking to clients, colleagues, or stakeholders, clarity and precision are key. Continuous Learning: Despite its talents, the parrot is always learning new words and sounds. Likewise, in our careers, embracing lifelong learning ensures we stay relevant and grow. Creativity: Watching the bot improvise its speech patterns highlighted the importance of creativity in problem-solving and innovation. Resilience: Lastly, this bot's ability to persevere through challenges—such as learning new phrases—underscored the importance of resilience in achieving our goals. Remember, inspiration can come from the most unexpected places—even from a talking bot! Let's apply these insights to our professional journeys and soar to new heights together. 🚀 #ProfessionalDevelopment #Inspiration #LearningFromNature #Adaptability #CommunicationSkills #Creativity #Resilience #talkingparrot #Aimerssociety #Aimers

Struggling with focus in the cockpit or on the ground? Start by identifying your top three most distracting tasks—whether it's planning, paperwork, or maintenance follow-ups. Now, imagine they don’t exist. How much mental clarity would that bring? Use this feeling to power your focus during critical moments, both in and out of the cockpit. Stay sharp, stay free from distractions. Each morning, jot down your top distractions. Schedule time to tackle them first or delegate where possible. This frees your mental bandwidth when it's time to fly. #socialskills #airlinejobs #avgeek #pilots #education #confidence #careergoals #selfawareness #socialemotionallearning #emotionalintelligence #regionalairlines #socialskills #airlinepilots #lifeskills #interviewprep #jobinterviews #success #psychology #learning #social #selfconfidence #inspiration #mindfulness #flightinstructor #flight #pilotsofinstagram #earlyintervention #selfhelp #careerprep #teachersofinstagram

Revolutionising Sales Performance through Neuroeconomics | Fractional Commercial Director | Sales Training Expert
I was asked today about my thoughts on attitude over skill. In about 2 hours, I’ll be boarding a flight, and given the choice of a skilled commercial pilot with a good attitude, or a PPL-holding pilot with an incredibly positive attitude, I’ll take the former, thanks. But, if both pilots had the same level of skill and competence, I’d probably take the latter. When it comes to attitude, definition is important. In my model of human behaviour, I describe attitude as “how I feel about it”. This feeling is prone to change, and is especially influenced by our motivation and perception of reality, in the moment. If we’re talking about a colleague, then knowing what their motivators are, and being trusted by them to have access to their attitude means that we can affect their behaviour. Similarly, their perceptions of reality can be edited, which will affect their attitude and behaviour. So, skill or attitude? What’s your preference, and why? #brain #sales #training

PATTERN RECOGNITION Recently I heard a disturbing story. A student taking flight lessons became extremely upset with the flight instructor. For good reason. The flight instructor told the student that following checklists didn’t matter. The instructor also went on to tell the student he would pass the first portion of the flight syllabus regardless of performance. Are you enraged!? I am and you should be as well. Two weeks ago, I wrote about patterns and the importance of establishing patterns in your workplace. In aviation, we say checklists are written in blood. The patterns we follow keep us alive. Checklists were created based on the errors pilots have made (many fatal) when taking off, in-flight or upon landing. While we can memorize our checklists, we are trained to use our physical written checklists. Why? Because under pressure it is too easy to forget a step. Relying on memory alone, the wrong engine gets shut down, or the wrong procedure is conducted. Then the single engine emergency becomes a dual engine emergency. Or the landing gear doesn’t get lowered. See what I mean? The aviation community relies on checklists so that we stay alive, and you do, too. They work so well that the medical community now incorporates checklists for surgery, and they are used in many more industrial procedures. Patterns are important. Checklist were developed to create patterns and are essential to safety. Patterns and their supporting checklists are the pathways to outstanding performance, both in aviation as well as in our professional lives. What’s not working in your organization? Have your team members started overlooking essential elements by ignoring checklists, not developing beneficial patterns or are they creating patterns that are not beneficial to the organization? Need help with pattern recognition or pattern creation? Would a few checklists help increase your team’s performance? Let me know… Fly high and fly safely! Do you think Adaptability is an intelligence? I know for myself, it has been one of the biggest assets throughout my life professionally and personally! *Especially in the private aviation world* ✈️I know my fellow colleagues can enjoy that laugh. For me, adaptability has lead to strategic critical thinking skills and innovative ways of handling situations. 🤔🧐 It’s built my confidence over the years and proven to me that I am capable of handling any situations while also being able to succeed! Don’t let anything overcome you, or defeat you; adapt to the situation, change your perspective and use it to your benefit! 💪🏼 As we would say in Napa, CA- when life hands you lemons, trade them in for grapes and make wine!!🍷 Ps. Not written by AI. Yes, I said that. 🤣 #adaptablity #privateaviation #resilience #emotionalintelligence #intelligence

The best life hack to learn is having a sense of direction, not speed. 99% of every successful person asks themselves 3-ruled questions at the end of every month. There is something called the aviation concept called the 1-in-60 Rule. What we can learn from it is that : 1-degree error in the heading and it will cause the plane to miss its target by 1 mile for every 60 miles flown. If we apply this concept to our life: The tiniest deviation from the track creates a large miss to the destination. This shows how important that we should always make adjustments in our lives, not only focusing on speed. You should ask yourself 3 questions every month. 1. What matters right now in my life and am I still on track to my goals? 2. Is my daily routine aligned with my Big Goals? 3. What are the things that should be cut from my life that would prevent me from achieving my goal? Answering these questions would take 30 minutes, so be honest and answer honestly.
