This #WorldNGODay, we honour NGOs & NPOs for their vital role in advancing sustainable development, safeguarding human rights, supporting underserved communities, and driving global progress. At Aware, our core mission is to encourage responsible alcohol consumption among adults while strongly opposing underage drinking, drunk driving, and alcohol use during pregnancy through our zero-tolerance policy. #Worldngoday #DontDrinkandDrive #NOtoUnder18

We realize the issues involved with maternal rights and substance abuse but we also realize the issues related to infants prenatally exposed to substances in this article.

I feel honored and highly privileged assisting minority children and their families to have a brighter future.
By recognizing the complexities involved, society and governments must also make allowances for situations where a pregnancy may endanger the mother’s life or be otherwise unviable. Abortion, therefore, is not simply a matter of choice; it is a question of life, ethics, and balance. In a society committed to justice, the rights of every human — born and unborn — should be honored and protected within a framework that considers all complexities and preserves life wherever possible. https://lnkd.in/gQvp_3Kx

We must recognize that sexual and reproductive health and rights are a climate issue, and women and children need to be part of climate policymaking. The Auckland flooding in Feb 2022 taught us many lessons, and the climate crisis will continue to exacerbate these issues. So, while putting together a new program, think of how issues can be attended to during a cyclone, pandemic, flooding, and other crises. Planning ahead and being prepared with a skilled and well-trained workforce for maternal and child healthcare is key. It's important to note that the climate crisis hurts women and girls in many ways. It leads to more gender-based violence and contributes to a rise in child marriages. It also leads to stillbirth, worsens other maternal and child health outcomes, disrupts sexual and reproductive health, and limits access to contraception. In addition, it adds to food insecurity issues and disrupts women and girls' ability to access and attain education. Let's work together to ensure that women and girls are considered in climate policymaking and that their sexual and reproductive health and rights are protected, even during crises. #ClimateCrisis #MaternalHealth #ReproductiveRights #GenderEquality
⚠️ #ClimateChange worsens many inequalities faced by women and girls. Extreme weather can lead to more gender-based violence, more child marriages and more pregnancy complications. Get the facts and join the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to take #ClimateAction: https://unf.pa/cchwg

The For Baby's Sake Trust is standing in solidarity with Black mothers, families, and communities disproportionately impacted by maternal health disparities. Despite the UK having one of the lowest maternal mortality rates globally, Black women in the UK have a four-fold higher risk of dying in pregnancy in comparison to white women (MMBRRACE UK, 2023). We are proud to support the Five X More campaign, a vital initiative addressing the urgent need to improve maternal health outcomes for Black mothers. At The For Baby's Sake Trust, we advocate for comprehensive solutions that promote equity, inclusivity, and culturally competent care. Together, we can work towards a future where every mother receives the care, support, and respect they deserve. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #FivexMore #MaternalHealthEquity

Extreme heat is a reproductive justice issue: Exposure to high temperatures, including in early stages of pregnancy, are associated with premature birth and stillbirth. https://bit.ly/3w0eaKr Because of historic racist policies and ongoing discrimination, communities where people from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and low wealth reside are more likely to be hotter. This exposes them to higher temperatures that put health at risk. https://bit.ly/4auEjQG What can you do? Here are some tips to stay cool in the summer: https://bit.ly/3xzwRVU
