Miami Grand Prix and another race weekend. Will Audi get their man in the shape of Carlos Sainz - who loses his Ferrari seat next year to Lewis Hamilton? They're looking to partner him with Nico Hulkenberg Will Ferrari be any closer to the Red Bulls...will McLaren? Will the sprint be as weird and wonderful as last time out in China? Will Mercedes' upgrades, actually bring any noticeable difference? All valid questions. Not the REAL question though. The real question - the one we all want the answer to is... Where (if anywhere) will Adrian Newey end up. Critical in Red Bulls' recent successes, a previous championship winning car designer with Williams and McLaren - in fact. The man who has designed 12 constructors championship winning cars across 3 different teams. Will he join up with Ferrari - alongside Lewis Hamilton Or have Audi a;ready 'tapped him up' for their entry to F1? Interesting times. Firstly though - #MiamiGrandPrix. Sprint weekend. Lots of points on offer. https://lnkd.in/eM6pUnEt

After the first two weekends of the year dominated by Red Bull and #Verstappen, the #AustralianGP offered a different scenario which was clear from Friday. Sainz’s pace was very fast, and without Verstappen's retirement, he would have certainly fought for the victory. This is why Sainz's win wasn't a one-off lucky shot. The #SF24 showed the best compromise among all the top teams on track: the car generated high downforce in all fast corners, a ‘good’ top speed and, especially, high mechanical grip in the last sector. The team made a set of good decisions to suit the car to both drivers’ driving styles. First of all, they stiffened the front suspension to make the front axle more reactive in all the slow hairpins and improving the behavior of the car in the last sector. A crucial step in the weekend was made on Saturday FP3: #Ferrari’s engineers decided to adopt the one-element beam wing (right part of the drawing below) to slightly reduce drag in the long straights, matching #RedBull’s top speeds in the second sector without compromising the whole balance of the car. Moreover, conscious of the higher temperatures expected for the race on Sunday, they chose to slightly shift the balance to the rear end of the car. Thanks to the high level of downforce and the great mechanical grip, the SF-24 was able to generate enough temperature both on the front axle and the rear axle to prevent graining, thus being the quickest during the race on Sunday. If Ferrari can confirm their performance and be right behind Red Bull in Japan, they might get closer during the season with a series of upgrades to make the SF-24 race pace even quicker. If this happens, the Constructors’ Championship won’t be a faraway dream for the Italian team, which has proved to be prepared to seize any opportunity, converting every opponent's debacle into victory. 🏎️ Imagine being a Formula 1 driver in the best car. Sounds electrifying, right? But hold on - it’s Monday, and yesterday you graciously handed victory to your teammate. Why? 🤔 🏆 Meet Oscar Piastri, the 115th F1 Grand Prix race winner! 🏁 Oscar joined the McLaren F1 Team in the 2023 season. He made an impressive debut, scoring points in only his 3rd race. By the end of his rookie season, he secured double podium finishes and even clinched victory in the sprint race. Fast forward to the 2024 season, and Oscar has become a Formula 1 Grand Prix winner! 🥇 🌟 Now, let’s talk about Lando Norris, another GP winner. With 3 pole positions and 21 podiums, he’s already a shining star in the world of motorsports. In his 6th F1 season, he finally has a car capable of winning races. 🇭🇺 Hungarian Grand Prix, 2024: Norris leads the race, with Piastri close behind. But McLaren makes a poor strategic call - they invoke Team Orders and instruct Lando to let Oscar pass. It’s not the first time teammates have swapped leads in Formula 1, but the consequences can be swift. The Dilemma: Should Lando prioritize team harmony over personal victory? In the heat of Hungaroring, Norris grapples with this question. Ultimately, he chooses the long game, sacrificing his own win for the team. His race engineer, Will Joseph, reminds him: “(…)The way to win a championship is not by yourself, it’s with the team. You’re going to need Oscar, you’re going to need the team.” “As we said this morning mate, many more opportunities.” 🤔 Your Turn: - Should Lando have held his lead and not let Oscar pass? - Is winning worth compromising team consistency? - Should championship points in the drivers’ classification take precedence? With Formula 1 back this week for the first race of the season in Bahrain, I've built a race timing #dataanalysis tool to reflect upon last year's opening round. A "gapper plot" shows the time delta for all drivers relative to a reference time or car, and is key for evaluating the race #strategy across all teams. During a race, teams analyse relative gaps with live updates to determine and predict ideal pitstop windows. Last year saw Verstappen lead Perez to the finish by 12s for Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology, with Alonso for Aston Martin F1 Team in third, a further 27s behind. How different will the result be this year? More #F1 race strategy analysis here: https://lnkd.in/efQcta48

--- BREAKING F1 News Regarding New Team! 🏎️ --- News has just broke that F1 have rejected Andretti's bid to form the 11th team in F1 for the 2026 season! --- What Exactly Has Happened? 👀 --- Despite Andretti Cadillacs bid being accepted by the FIA in October 2023, the final decision from F1 has been a closed door for the hopeful candidates. The reason given is that the proposal put forward by Andretti and Cadillac would have involved them producing a brand new car ready for the 2025 season, only to scrap it all and start again on a completely different new regulation car for 2026, which F1 believe is a challenge that a novice team cannot fulfil to a competitive manner, hence the rejected bid. --- Is It Still possible That We See An 11th Team? 🤔 --- Despite this news breaking, there is still certain possibility for Cadillac themselves to become the team to make F1 an 11 team Championship, as this rejection is more of a delay than an outright no. This is because F1 stated that the reason for their decision, as I stated above was because they did not feel they could be competitive with the scale of the challenge they would have to overcome, however, this challenge would be greatly lighten post 2026 when they are not producing a car from scratch, only to race for 1 year. Not only this, but the Cadillac/General Motors power unit for F1 cars is set to become available from 2028, meaning a joining this year too for their own team seems very much likely. An interesting breaking story, which I felt worth informing you of, do you think we will still see Cadillac in F1, even if not until 2028, or will we not see them at all? #f1 #f1news #motorsport #motorsportnews #news #racing #racingnews #f1cadillac #cadillac #cadillacf1 #generalmotors #generalmotorsf1 #andretti #andrettif1 #andretticadillac #andretticadillacf1 #luxedrive

“It was quite close at the end. I think overall this track is very sensitive with the tyres, with the tarmac being really aggressive, and when you really want to go to the limit it doesn’t always work out.” - Max Verstappen pole sitter for Suzuka F1 Grand Prix. What he means? Usually a circuit lap is divided into 3 sectors. And normally you would think that trying to go the fastest into each will reflect in the total duration of the lap. What Verstappen is saying that due to the abrasive nature of the tarmac, driving on the limit will not mean fastest, but it was more important to keep the tyres into the right window. How often aren’t we push for the ultimate performance in each department, loosing from the sight the most important performance metric that reflect our performance as organization? #image credits F1.com #f1 #e2e #silo #performance #continuousimprovement #advancedorganisationalconsulting
