Don’t miss this Just Energy Transition Short Course for Utility Professionals!
On 26 August, the Inaugural Just Energy Transition Municipal Conference, spearheaded by His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa, marked a pivotal moment in South Africa's commitment to a sustainable and inclusive energy future. Key insights from President Ramaphosa's address, alongside the remarks from Deputy Minister Narend Singh, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment, underscored the critical role municipalities must play in driving the Just Energy Transition (JET). Their messages resonate deeply with the objectives of our Just Energy Transition Skills Development Programme for Utility Professionals, which is specifically designed to equip municipal operators, managers, and leaders with the knowledge and tools to navigate and lead within South Africa's evolving energy landscape. In this thought leadership piece, I will showcase how our programme aligns seamlessly with the nation's strategic energy goals and the central role of municipalities in this trajectory. https://lnkd.in/dftAc-Tt Women professionals in Gauteng based municipalities, visit our website and register you interest to participate in our Just Energy Skills Development Programme for Utility Professions. As we close women’s month in South Africa!!
I had the privilege to deliver a keynote address at the Eskom Women’s Advancement Programme Conference 2024 - Awards Evening!!! The theme was: Invest in Women - Accelerate Progress. I had the joy of engaging with Eskom’s leadership Mteto Nyati , Bheki Nxumalo Monde Bala, Jainthree Sankar Calib Cassim and Eskom Transmission CEO Segomoco Scheppers I have always believed that the Eskom Learning Academy is a sanctuary for energy system learning for the continent. Bekezela (Beke) Moloi and her team transformed one of the restaurants into a glamorous gala venue… simply exceptional. It was incredible to meet the Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy DM Samantha Jan Graham who was gracious! I was in awe of the sheer talent and revived spirits in the room. The Award recipients were deserving and deeply inspiring. In my keynote, I paid tribute to Chris Breen, whose teachings have had an indelible mark in my journey. Extracts from my keynote: Embracing Authentic Leadership: The Courage to Rise What Gift Have You Been Withholding from the World? I ask you this: What gift have you been withholding from the world? What talent, what vision, what leadership have you held back because of fear or because you were told it wasn’t your place? The world needs that gift now more than ever. Do not deprive us of the brilliance only you can bring. Bestow Love on the Unlovable Parts of You And as you do this, bestow love on the parts of you that you’ve hidden away—the parts you thought were unworthy or unlovable. For in those parts lies the fullness of who you are. It is in embracing all of you that you will find the strength to lead others. Honor the Difference between Job, Duty, and Calling Remember the difference between a job, a duty, and a calling. A job pays the bills, a duty serves others, but a calling—a calling changes the world. And you, my friends, are called. Called to lead, to innovate, to inspire. Construct a Mature Spirituality In this journey, construct a spirituality that is mature, that goes beyond the surface and roots itself deep within your soul. This is the foundation that will support you through every challenge and triumph alike. Seize Permission to Be Who You Really Are Finally, tonight I give you this charge: Seize permission to be who you truly are. The world has enough people playing small, enough people conforming to the expectations of others. What the world needs—what we need—is you. The real, unfiltered, unapologetic you. #womeninenergy
