Do you know about HB 426 in Delaware? This bill mandates support for pregnant incarcerated women with Doula and Midwife services. This is important for Black mothers in our community who often face higher rates of maternal mortality and lack of adequate prenatal care. Did you know that September 9th is International FASD Awareness Day? FASD stands for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. The International FASD Day is a day to raise awareness about the lifelong effects of FASD and to remind everyone that there is no known safe amount of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. The important topics of alcohol, pregnancy, and FASD is something that also the Nordic Welfare Centre has worked with. Our latest project related to the topic resulted in the report How to strengthen the focus on children affected by prenatal alcohol exposure to help them lead a good life, published on FASD Awareness Day two years ago.
