This week, it was the London AWS Summit 2024, and it was a great opportunity for the Mesh-AI team to be there. A big shoutout to Adam Dewberry, Hakim Guessous, Elliot B., Michal Stypik, and Maximilian B. and all the Mesh-AI engineers for sharing their insights and opinions, helping us capture key trends from the event. Here are the main takeaways: 🚀 Serverless Evolution: Serverless was a major theme at the summit, reflecting AWS's shift toward a mix of orchestration and choreographed managed service calls. This approach aims to reduce code complexity by using Step Functions with native integrations to EventBridge, DynamoDB streams, and direct SDK calls. The trend is moving away from "integration" code in Lambdas to more configuration-based integrations, streamlining the process. It was noted that if Amazon were built today, it would be 100% serverless, indicating the growing significance of serverless-first design. 🤖 Gen-AI: AWS Bedrock provides a library of foundational large language models (LLMs) and supports domain-specific fine-tuning. AI was a central theme at the summit, with AWS covering the entire stack from model training to production use cases. Companies like Booking.com, Adobe, and TUI showcased their applications of AI in various contexts. 💻 Governance and Operations: AWS is introducing new governance models, Distributed DevOps practices, and the new Operational Excellence Pillar in the Well-Architected Framework. Improvements in container platforms and networking point to a more robust and efficient cloud infrastructure. These insights illustrate AWS's ongoing commitment to serverless technologies and AI, indicating a future with greater integration and innovation.
