Who would say no to saving money? After years of providing #lifeinsurance to clients, I compiled a list of 25 Money Saving Tips, to help clients save when purchasing insurance. (For the full list you can check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gfMNy6Nj) Below are 5 of those tips, the ones I have named: 5 Not-So-Easy-But-By-Far-The-Biggest Money Saver Tips. 1. Quit smoking: Not easy, I know. But as a non-smoker you would pay 50% less on your premiums. Note: you must be nicotine-free for at least 12 months to qualify for non-smoker rates. 2. Lose weight: If you are outside the range on the insurers weight chart, you can be declined for insurance. And while you can qualify for standard rates even if you are a few pounds overweight, you can’t get preferred ratings. 3. Drive safe: Insurers also look at your lifestyle as a factor in determining your life insurance rates. Depending on the insurer, they look at the last 2-3 years of your driving record. Speeding tickets, DUIs, and license suspensions are red flags that can increase your premiums. 4. Reduce dangerous hobbies: Insurance companies will charge more if you participate in what they deem hazardous sports like mountain climbing, motorized racing, scuba diving (that is a popular one with my clients!) and more. Stopping or reducing your participation in these extreme sports will get you lower rates. 5. Asked to pay higher rates for your policy? Shop around: Different insurers treat medical conditions differently. If an insurer rates you 100% on your premiums (meaning you have to pay double what a healthy person pays), another might actually give you standard rates! It takes more time and effort to shop around, but working with an experienced advisor who will approach insurers that may offer better rates can save alot of money in this situation. It's been an incredible journey watching both the industry and our company thrive. As we gear up for InsurTech Connect 2024, here are a few tips I’ve learned over the years to make the most out of the conference: 𝟏.
