REFUSING to be just a +1 When we were working on the +1 campaign at Future Generali, I naturally wondered if I experienced the same, to which the answer was a definitive yes. Women, despite success and supportive families, often prioritise other considerations over themselves, and are constantly trying to balance the fine line between our aspirations and responsibilities. Yes, Saurabh’s+1 has made her share of sacrifices, such as prioritising family relocation over an offer from a dream company (at least at that time!). Looking back, I have no regrets and wouldn't change it, but the "what if" thought always invites introspection. Relocating to a foreign country brought unique hurdles, requiring me to redefine myself in unfamiliar environments. I stayed focused, worked hard, constantly learnt and remained resilient. Despite the difficulties, these experiences facilitated my personal growth and self-discovery. I refused to conform to the role of a mere plus one, opting instead to carve my own path. Life didn't go exactly as planned, but its twists and turns have brought me to where I am today: happy, yet energised to make more things happen. I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything! To those at crossroads in their lives, I say: Embrace the journey, for challenges fuel our strength. The journey may not pan out exactly like you had planned, but don’t give up and keep moving forward. Every step forward, no matter how small, leads to our goals and aspirations.
