To reiterate the words of Olivia Guthrie at ITV ‘When negative stories so often dominate the news it feels good to tell a good news story about good people doing really good things.’ 🎤 Olivia herself knew the local area well, and the connection and time she took to get to know the kids behind the scene really shone through in the report. This is one of the many reasons it has been a pleasure working alongside Spotify to celebrate the opening of Mentivity House's brand-new community hub in the Aylesbury estate. In this segment for ITV Olivia spoke with Mentivity's community, from Sayce Holmes-Lewis to the mentors and mentees where they could shine a light on all the incredible work Mentivity House is doing. 💚 It's so often that the news is overshadowed with negative stories, failing to recognise all the good going on and that's one of the many reasons conversations like this are so important ❗

Personally I think Girls5Eva is the funniest show on television but the social media data indicates it's first season on Netflix will be the last. I talked to Kasey Moore of What's on Netflix in this article about why. While the show is receiving a bump in audience interest from moving to Netflix, there's still less Tweets talking about Girls5Eva than there were around the show's first season on Peacock. Additionally, when Netflix has promoted Girls5Eva on social, those posts average 80% less engagements (comments, likes, shares), than all other posts by Netflix. #SocialMediaanalytics #netflix data pulled from ListenFirst

New Post: Will ‘Schmigadoon!’ have encore season? -You have questions. I have some answers. Q: It was such a disappointment to all of us musical theater fans that the wonderful “Schmigadoon!” was canceled by Apple TV+ before Season 3 (which had all of its songs already written!) could be filmed. Any chance it will be picked up by another network? It’s truly... You have questions. I have some answers. Q: It was such a disappointment to all of us musical theater fans that the wonderful “Schmigadoon!” was canceled by Apple TV+ before Season 3 (which had all of its songs already written!) could be filmed. Any chance it will be picked up by another network? It’s truly a theatrical treasure. A: It was indeed a treasure as it built its stories around classic Broadway musical styles for two seasons, with an array of musical pros (Ariana DeBose, Alan Cumming and Kristin Chenoweth among them) joining stars Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key. But it was not necessarily going to draw a wide audience, as creator Cinco Paul said in a social media post after the cancellation that “It’s a miracle we even got two seasons, honestly.” Could it come back sometime? These days it seems any series has a chance of eventual revival. But I’m not optimistic about this one. Q: What’s with the five-minute period when local stations stretch their news before the network late-night shows begin? Why don’t they begin and end at the half-hour like most scheduled programs? A: It’s a way for local newscasts to get in a few more minutes of commercials before the late shows begin, much the way some current hit shows add a minute to their running time to make room for more ads. But that’s not the only occasion for odd start times for TV shows. When Ted Turner was trying to bring viewers to TBS and TNT, he observed that starting on the hour and half-hour meant his networks’ TV listings were jammed in with other programs at those times; for years he put the start times at five minutes past the hour or half-hour so the shows had their own, solo spot in the listings. And NBC at one time aired its hit comedies in “supersized” form running a little more than 30 minutes to deter viewers from switching to other networks. Q: Between 1973 and 1975, three TV movies were released on the broadcast networks: “Genesis II,” “Planet Earth” and “Strange New World.” They were pilots based on concepts by “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry, but never sold as series. Are they available for viewing anywhere? A: According to Lee Goldberg’s book “Unsold Television Pilots,” “Genesis II” aired in 1973 on CBS and focused on a scientist who was awakened 150 years after going into suspended animation. Alex Cord starred. After it did not sell, a script for the series became the pilot “Planet Earth” for ABC in 1974, with John Saxon as the star. When that did not sell, the studio tried “Strange New World” for ABC in 1975, with Sax

Trivia question. What city was depicted in FRIENDS? (NY), Cheers (Boston), or Two and a Half-Men? (Malibu). Where were they FILMED? In LA studios. Each promoted their city well for many seasons. Do the same for your city, state, or country, AND earn a good income doing so! Cast yourself in the lead role, or choose your cast, and crew, then write your own scripts! Invite the mayor or governor for a cameo role. Get the city tourism and local merchants involved. Film in local hotels, restaurants, and city locations, promote where you live and work, and be a hero in your own town! Hire local actors and crew. CREATE JOBS in your own city or state, and be a show creator with a hit TV series! The timing is ideal for the TV drama com, "Dad Downstairs." Consider becoming an EP; producing your TV show, with assistance from the creators of a new TV drama com series! Create your role in "Dad Downstairs-your area". We offer the flexibility of choosing your cast, crew, and distribution. We are looking for EPs in EVERY city and country with D2C streaming. The new drama com features a divorced couple, raising their children, each living in a duplex in the same house! This show has the potential to be the top show on TV and that is our goal. Join us today! We offer such opportunities for the right person, group, or company. We created ``Dad Downstairs`` for worldwide distribution. You do NOT need professional actors! Think of "Real Housewives of xx" and how that concept flourished and is in 21 markets now. This show concept has a broader appeal to a wider demographic worldwide! We offer a 90% revenue stream in your market AND help with marketing and distribution from the 10% share we retain, all with a nominal license fee. Each EP in that market can create their own script, cast and crew, union or non-union, film, edit, and finish as many episodes as they desire AND we offer a marketing platform where they can start receiving income, ``direct to consumer`` the first week the show is done! Each EP has its own dashboard to monitor their income stream and can even allocate a percentage of the income in that market to investors, sponsors, partners, or supporters. They too get their own dashboard to keep track of their earnings! The best part is you can withdraw your money any time you wish, every DAY if you want! That is your choice. Every market of ``Dad Downstairs`` family drama, has a different cast and crew. Remember, YOUR script will differ from ours too. See the video. https://lnkd.in/gRsGVZvE. An interesting development. Netflix has +270M subscribers. That’s a lot of influence. And over the last few years, we’ve seen the channel face heightened criticism for fictionalising real world events without making it clear what is fact and what is fiction. The Crown is an obvious example, but more recent shows that have faced similar scrutiny include Baby Reindeer, Scoop and Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Personally, I love these shows – bring on more. But they bring up an interesting debate: how do you balance creative freedom and making “good TV” with responsible content - particularly in a world where fact and fiction are becoming increasingly blurred online, fuelled by mis and disinformation. https://lnkd.in/eMBmQDX9

Helping organisations create, test & launch better products / Chief Tinkerer & CEO at Watch Me Think
I've been a long time subscriber to Private Eye (I can bore you for hours about my favourite covers) so have been reading about the Post Office scandal for some time. I would read about it, shake my head, mutter to myself about how something like this could be allowed to happen, but the ITV drama 'Mr Bates vs. the Post Office' brought out something different in me entirely - a reaction that many others have experienced, if we judge it by its dominance of the national conversation. Whilst the drama brought limited new information to the subject, how it communicated that information - in a well written story / film - changed the emotional impact. The power of story - Simply, the drama brought an emotional response that just isn't (as commonly) achievable in print. The power of the moving image, the power of observing the pain, torment and frustration in people's faces. As my friend Anthony Tasgal says, 'story humanises'. The importance of data quality - There are also some interesting / scary moments in the programme about the consequences of having an unwavering belief in what the data says vs. what the people were saying / what the truth was. A lesson for us all there. Creating action - The emotion the dramatisation has brought makes the story memorable, but more importantly, has made the prospect of real change/action possible. One tiny bit of criticism - there is another lesson in there about being aware of who is telling the story and what they have to gain from it (or not), for us to check the narrative, dig into the details. For example, an argument could be made that Adam Crozier who was CEO of the Royal Mail 2003-2011 (of which the Post Office is a division) warranted a mention in the drama - over 100 subpostmasters had already been prosecuted by the end of 2002, and the initial story about the scandal broke in 2009 on his watch. But he is not mentioned once. He left the Royal Mail to become the CEO of ITV, who happened to make the programme (even though he was gone by the time it was commissioned.), and has gone on chair many major companies. I've read arguments from both sides, including ITV's. Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet, it's a strong recommendation from me. While you're at it, put Lockerbie and Once Upon a time in Northern Ireland on your list. Both excellent.
