Wow, what a great sports summer is 2024!! First EURO2024, Tour the France and now the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris!! Network connectivity and performance are key for people and society during these events at which millions of people will be using the network. For Telcos, the demand for superior network connectivity during such high-traffic events is the ultimate stress test, and a crucial opportunity to seize and cement customer loyalty. But precisely how big an opportunity is it? Read more about this in the blog from Marko Jovanovic called "Top three gold winning strategies to secure customer loyalty" at https://lnkd.in/evTVvVeF #MakeItMemorable #TeamEricsson #FanExperiences #5G Matthias Kleine-Doepke Ruslan Utegenov SYAMANTA RAJBANGSHI Jens Albers Bachir Tamer Aryo Mobarhan Daniel Leimbach Cordula Knüppel Jan Thünnesen Martin Ostermeier Preeti Nagarajan ♦️
For the millions of fans travelling to Paris to make once-in-a-lifetime memories, the last thing they need is an unreliable connection holding them back. Ensuring seamless connectivity during the entire journey is essential, as negative experiences in high-value locations like stadiums and transport hubs are one of the biggest indicators of a customer's likelihood to churn. Reliable connectivity is also foundational for entire ecosystem, from helping event attendees coordinate meet-ups, to capturing and sharing their experiences in real time, and even managing digital ticketing and transactions seamlessly. Mega events represent the ultimate stress test for mobile networks, and a crucial opportunity to cement customers’ loyalty and use the power of 5G standalone to make it happen. Amsterdam !! Someone's got to do it. Oh, it's for work, my customers will be there. Yeah right, that too !! There's good reason major industry events are located in some of the most attractive cities in the world. For mine, Amsterdam tops them all, with maybe Barcelona following a close second - they both have good coffee houses. :) Well, with the Covid interlude out of the way, Amsterdam once again awaits with the Broadcast Industries most anticipated annual get together, IBC. Over 50,000 people come and hang out, not all go to the same coffee house at the same time !! Our partners Media Links and Dimetis GmbH will be putting their best foot forward and exhibiting. Media Links showcasing some of its new and leading broadcast technologies that underpin Olympics broadcasting and broadcasting in major geographies, including across the Australian and North American continents. Oh, that's right, our partner in crime, Telstra, have their own exhibit and a healthy contingency heading over to fly the good flag of Australian competency and ingenuity in global broadcasting. We'll quietly say that the DVN is the backbone of all that wonderful ingenuity.. shhhhh. I digress. Looking forward to catching up with old friends and acquaintances, making some new ones and ensuring the quality of the coffee houses are to spec. See you at IBC! #IBC2024 #BroadcastInnovation #MediaLinks #Telstra #DVN #NetworkSupport #Partnerships #Innovation

It’s always exciting when a major international sporting event takes place in one's home country. Many recall how impactful the summer of 2006 was, working as volunteers in and around stadiums. This summer promises to be another unforgettable experience, enjoying matches with friends and family. In cities like Frankfurt, streets are adorned with team colours, fan zones rise in front of landmarks, and crews prepare stadiums for thousands of fans. Behind the scenes, teams are working tirelessly to prepare mobile infrastructure for the large influx of fans. For major events, robust 5G connectivity is crucial, meeting growing demands for seamless social media and HD streaming experiences. Back in 2002, I took a sabbatical from the mobile industry to work on the Queen's Jubilee Baton Relay, the Commonwealth Games equivalent of the Olympic Torch Relay. In travelling 5000 miles around the UK visiting 500 cities and towns in 50 days in advance of the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games, we used the operational model that had been used for the highly successful Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch Relay. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Successive Games - Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth, Asian, etc - avoid reinventing the wheel wherever possible. Experience is passed on from one Games to the next in relay, with evolution rather than revolution to accommodate local circumstances and technology developments. There is a cohort of event specialists that move from one Games to the next. One of my former Manchester Relay colleagues is involved in the Paris Olympic Torch Relay, and his 15th Olympics! This article by another friend of mine outlines how France Televisions is able to use 5G (mobile private network?), Starlink (backhaul?) and cloud production techniques to serve up extensive live coverage of the Paris 2024 Relay on a FAST channel. I look forward to the next article which will go into greater detail. For the Manchester Relay, we were limited to producing a daily highlights package on the road which was carried by a dispatch rider which had to leave the Relay mid afternoon to take a physical tape to the nearest pre-arranged BBC location to be made available to news channels and other rights holders. Manchester 2002 coincided with the early stages of 3G roll-out: I remember thinking at the time that one day, mobile could potentially revolutionise coverage of Games' Relays. Twenty two years on it looks like its happening! https://lnkd.in/dPZSvmyJ

I had the pleasure of attending the AVIXA and IABM UpStream event in Dubai this morning along with Rishab Narayanan. The event perfectly coincides with CABSAT and Integrate Middle East happening currently in Dubai as it's clearly focused on capturing, storing, streaming, and distributing broadcast-quality content, bringing together broadcast technology suppliers, AV/IT solution providers, and enterprise buyers. One of the highlights was on the development of a 'Corporate Media Centre'. The concept is designed to support live audience events, virtual events, press conferences, live streaming, social media recording, and podcasting. It's a hybrid communication, media production, and networking platform that meets high industry standards and emphasizes flexibility. The topic brought to my mind a recent project, that Granteq completed —a state-of-the-art corporate studio for a global pharmaceutical company. The studio features a green screen, advanced app-controlled lighting, a teleprompter with a 4K camera, a production-quality switcher, and top-notch audio equipment. Despite its compact size, it enables the creation of high-quality corporate content, from CEO messages to training videos. The key takeaway from today's event is the merging lines of broadcast and PRO AV systems. High-end studios aren't exclusive to media organizations; they're becoming essential for various industries. Our recent project reflects this trend, demonstrating how corporate media centers revolutionise communication and content creation. check out the corporate studio case study : https://lnkd.in/dxjv3_yq Joining events like UpStream Dubai provides invaluable insights and fosters connections that drive innovation in our industry. Great catching up with Dan Goldstein , Olga Nevinchana and excited to see what's next at Cabsat and Integrate Middle East! #BroadcastSolutions #CorporateMedia #AVIXA #IABM #Granteq #CABSAT2024 #IntegrateME
