How portable X-ray machines are helping remote patients Testing these ultraportable X-ray hardware devices was the Orkney Islands, before the trial there 73% of patients who were due for an X-ray did not attend their appointments - largely due to the costs and time needed to reach distant hospitals, as a result of its use, the non-attendance rate for X-rays appointments was reduced to zero. The global portable X-ray market was reportedly worth $7.1bn (£5.6bn) last year and this is expected to rise to $14bn by 2028. Find out more via BBC News https://lnkd.in/esY9jXCW #MedTech #MedDevices

Attending the late breaking clinical trial session at #ACC24, you could feel the energy in the room as the results of the Medtronic SMART Trial were presented. The results provide physicians and heart teams with data they have been asking for to drive decisions based on valve performance. Not only is this the largest head-to-head trial to date for TAVR, but it also shines a light on gender disparities in women’s cardiovascular disease management. This study highlights the performance of the Medtronic Evolut™ transcatheter heart valve, particularly for women with smaller anatomies with #aorticstenosis. By demonstrating the potential for gender-specific treatment, the findings from the SMART Trial are a testament to how targeted research can lead to better healthcare outcomes for women and patients with small annuli. A special thanks to the clinical investigators and our Medtronic team for your work on this important study, which helps advance personalized and equitable treatment options. Valve performance matters. The representation of women in clinical trials matters. We sincerely appreciate our teleco giants for their effort in gradually phasing out the 3G network. However, it’s vital to ensure that everyone, particularly patients who rely on 3G for their pacemakers and other medical devices, is fully informed about these changes. To support this transition, we must educate patients, doctors, and caregivers about the 3G shutdown and its implications for medical devices. Clear communication about the importance of upgrading to 4G or 5G-compatible devices is essential, along with providing straightforward, step-by-step instructions. To further assist patients with pacemakers and similar devices, following measures can be taken: Alternative Connectivity: Investing in hybrid solutions that integrate 3G with other wireless technologies, like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, could offer temporary connectivity options. Direct-to-Doctor Connectivity: Some medical devices may establish direct connections with healthcare providers using alternative communication methods, such as cellular data or satellite links. Collaboration among healthcare providers, telecom operators, and regulatory bodies is crucial to implement these solutions swiftly. By working together, we can ensure that no one is left behind in this transition, allowing all individuals, especially those with pacemakers, to benefit from a connected future. #3GSHUTDOWN #TELSTRA #OPTUS
