A great article on how SpaceX works. If we think about structuring a productive team as how we would model an engineering system or architecture, the collaborative points mentioned here makes sense. To move fast and move together, the whole team needs to be committed and feel as if they have ownership in the same thing, not just an individual. Very insightful!

prompt engineering techniques like "rephrase and respond" often result in parts of your output being irrelevant to the original query. use Mirascope’s `response_model` to assign response sections to separate attributes for better control and easier downstream integration docs: https://lnkd.in/gZbB49U9

🌟 Conflict Resolution in Requirements Engineering: A Key to Success! 🌟 In the dynamic world of software development, conflicts are as common as bugs in code! 😅 When it comes to requirements engineering, resolving conflicts is paramount for project success. Take, for instance, the case of Apple's collaboration with GT Advanced Technologies. 💼 According to reports, conflicts over production targets and technical specifications led to GT Advanced Technologies filing for bankruptcy and Apple breaking contracts. (https://lnkd.in/gUFJsSi8) On the flip side, consider companies like SpaceX, where effective conflict resolution has saved massive projects. 🚀 SpaceX resolved conflicts with NASA during the development of the Crew Dragon spacecraft, ensuring alignment between project requirements and safety standards. This collaboration was instrumental in SpaceX's successful crewed missions to the International Space Station. (https://lnkd.in/gPdJBgj7) So, what to do when you have a conflict on your hands? 🤔 With these techniques in your toolkit, conflicts will be but a distant memory! 💼🌟 🤝 Stakeholder Collaboration Workshops: Bringing everyone to the table for a fruitful exchange of ideas! 📝 🔍 Prototyping and Mockups: Seeing is believing! Visualizing requirements for clearer understanding. 🖼️ 🔄 Iterative Approach: Step by step, we iron out the wrinkles! 🚶♂️ 📈 Requirement Prioritization Techniques: Sorting through priorities like a pro! 🏷️ 👥 Facilitated Meetings: Guiding discussions with finesse, making sure every voice is heard! 🗣️ The role of a requirements engineer is pivotal in facilitating effective conflict resolution. 🕵️♂️ They serve as mediators, guiding stakeholders through negotiations and ensuring alignment between requirements and project objectives. With empathy and negotiation skills, they navigate conflicting priorities and steer projects toward success! 💪 #ConflictResolution #RequirementsEngineering #SoftwareDevelopment #StakeholderManagement #Teamwork #EmbraceTheConflict 😄👩💻👨💻

Design By Intuition, Check By Calculation I first Posted this a couple of years ago, but it's worth another outing to remind ourselves what we really do as engineers. Someone once made an astute observation of how we work at A SQUARED Engineering. They said that 'we design by intuition, and we check by analysis'. It stuck in my mind and I went away and thought about this. I realised they were spot on, because many times, engineering solutions begin with a rough sketch on the back of a napkin which then progresses to a series of more refined drawings, using intellect, experience and engineering judgement - all before you go anywhere near any kind of analysis - be that first principles calcs or high-end analysis. If we are true to this process then the structure is mostly designed before we go anywhere near any kind of analysis. Taking this thought process a step further, our Ops Manager, Marie Di Folco, recently watched myself and David Clinton working together, developing a solution at the whiteboard. Up to that point she'd made the assumption that engineering is just about geeks (here I count myself firmly in this camp) doing hard sums and general boffin-type stuff. She remarked that she'd not appreciated that engineering solutions actually follow a kind of creative process. I think she was impressed...... So many times we come across projects, big and small, where the default starting position has been diving into analysis - often, very expensive, high-end analysis like FE. I'll talk a little more about this in subsequent posts, but I'll leave you with this thought. FE analysis and the results that come from it require an experienced user. You can have the fanciest software tools, the fastest computers with the biggest processors and graphic cards money can buy to do FE correctly, in a way that gets reliable results takes time, strong technical governance and above all else the experience to sense check the results. #oilandgas #structuralengineering #finiteelementanalysis #engineering #navalarchitecture
