Got an opportunity to speak to the work we do especially in the counties, of catalyzing the inherent agency of young women and men which positions them at the front and centre of governance and devolution processes and to champion sustainable community-led projects in their communities. Last week was spent in Migori and Makueni counties. This week we’re in Kericho and Murang’a before heading to Narok and Kilifi. These series of workshops in the counties have been designed to address and equip the young devolution champions with requisite technical knowledge and expertise in three key thematic areas; 1. Governance and Social accountability. 2. Gender-Responsive Budgeting 3. Success Stories • Local Governance Improvement: Training by PREPARE has enabled local leaders to adopt responsive governance models. • Youth Engagement: Initiatives keep young people engaged in agriculture, combating rural depopulation. • Farming Cooperatives: PREPARE has helped establish cooperatives that allow farmers to access bigger markets and adopt sustainable practices. The transformation of society has two integral aspects : training in the ethics of cohesion and cooperativeness; and governance structures that are based in community consultation. The transformation of governance itself relies on elections that define who the electorate consider their best representative based on the service in action lives of the adults in the community. Such communities have the emergent quality of the flourishing of everyone and everything as it finely tunes the distinctions of wildness and control, solitaries and community, solo and team. They honour the learned and inculcates a culture of learning as the foundational social attitude.

The tree planting activity conducted on 6 th July by volunteer Karan Pardesi in Himachal Pradesh can positively impact the mindset of young students in several ways: 1. Environmental awareness: Fosters a sense of responsibility towards the environment and its conservation. 2. Empathy and compassion: Encourages empathy towards nature and all living beings. 3. Community service: Instills a sense of social responsibility and community service. 4. Teamwork and collaboration: Promotes teamwork and collaboration among students. 5. Leadership skills: Encourages leadership skills and taking initiative. By engaging young students in tree planting activities, it helps in shaping their minds to be environmentally conscious, responsible, and socially aware individuals.
