We're proud to be part of innovative projects that bring lasting positive change! The Maitland Pedestrian Bridge is one such project — a stunning addition to the city that enhances mobility, safety, and connectivity for pedestrians.   At the World Bridg Engineering Conference in Miami, JMT's structural engineering team, led by Paul Marotta, PE, MCE and John Seifert, PE, presented the redesign of the Maitland pedestrian bridge over I-4. This project, part of the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate initiative with Florida Department of Transportation, addressed safety concerns and design challenges while minimizing costs and delays. The presentation, praised for its clarity and engaging visuals, highlighted JMT’s ability to combine versatility and collaboration. 💡 The Boorloo Bridge are two iconic, single-sided supported cable-stayed bridges that span the Swan River in Perth, Australia. 💡 The first bridge connects Point Fraser to Heirisson Island. The second bridge extends from Heirisson Island to McCallum Park. Each bridge deck is 6.0 meters wide, making them among the widest single-sided cable-supported decks in the world. Facts about the first bridge: 🔹Total length of 215 meters 🔹100-meter main span 🔹48-meter side span Facts about the second bridge: 🔹Overall length of 275 meters 🔹155-meter main span 🔹Two 60-meter side spans The bridges were analyzed and designed using SOFiSTiK software, incorporating a range of advanced structural analyses. How do you make a mega distribution hub a reality? It starts with getting the ground right. This £35m scheme at Symmetry Park, Biggleswade, has created a 61,000 square feet logistics and distribution centre for our client Tritax Group and end user, Co-op. Working collaboratively, our structural, civil and geotechnical teams conducted a thorough site investigation, giving them a more detailed understanding of the site’s ground profile. This uncovered two key challenges on the site; the presence of archaeology and the quantity of topsoil. After carrying out detailed geotechnical and structural calculations, we proposed an innovative solution for the earthworks and substructure designs. Using a cut and fill strategy, ground levels were raised above the significant areas of archaeology, allowing it to remain in-situ without the need for expensive removal. Raising the levels allowed the extra material in these areas to surcharge the below material. This solution led to a significant saving in construction programme and project costs.
