Today was a tough day at Cruise as the layoffs have affected nearly one out of four Cruisers. These are highly talented co-workers from Operations, Product, Software, AI, ML, HW, Electrical, Mechanical, Test, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and Project Management. To those Cruisers who are impacted by the layoffs, let me know how I can help. To my connections outside of Cruise, post in the comments if you’re hiring for others to see. #cruise #autonomousvehicles #hardwaredesign #engineering #ai

Mechanical Engineering |Founder of Career and corporate hub | Career and corporate strategist | Link Fm weekly guest host | beVisioneers mentor
Reflecting on my five-year journey in metrology department, I'm proud of the impact I've made in my growth. I have implemented two new positions that didn't exist before in SA in the company, which led to the hiring of two new team members and improved quality—a crucial achievement in a country with high unemployment. This involved defining the job scope and creating the necessary systems. As a team manager for a year now, I've addressed many challenges raised by my team and those I identified myself: 1. Our department, didn't have females before because of the setup - We now have four females. We've improved processes and implemented lifting devices and automated transportation systems to accommodate this change, thanks to the collective effort of the team. 2. Capacity issues previously excluded technicians from training. We've closed that gap, ensuring everyone has access to appropriate training. Some team members are even furthering their studies—individuals who once thought they'd retire in their current roles. 3. Communication with customers was affecting productivity and efficiency. We've improved this by going paperless and implementing a digital system, enhancing our communication and planning. My commitment to growth and unlocking potential extends beyond the workplace to the community. This month, I'm focused on supporting people stuck in their careers by helping them create a career roadmap and find a suitable mentor. Let's build each other up. #careerwithkhodani #careergrowth #careerimpact #teamspirit

Head of Insights @ Bolt | 10+ years in Data Engineering & Analytics | Data Platform, Data Mesh, Data Leadership
Can engineers actually make an impact at Bolt? This is the question I often get when I'm doing interviews. The narrative for bigger tech companies is that engineers sit most of the day doing meetings, check-ins, syncing, calibrations or something else. Well, here at Bolt, it's a bit different. See it yourself from the picture from the SSE calendar. We let our engineers make an impact. We trust our engineers to take big and complex problems and solve them. Of course, I don't want to create a false illusion that every week is meeting-free, but if you have a big task in your hands, we want you to deliver it and not sit in the meetings. Now, if you're one of those who actually wants to make an impact, then I have some news for you. I've opened up two new roles in my teams for Senior Software Engineers at the Data Platform group. (Details in the comments) 👇 You don't need to live and breathe data and have all the certificates. We want you to be intelligent, passionate, and really, really good at what you do. If this sparked your interest, please apply through our website(check comments) or write to me directly. Thank you! 🙏

Hi LinkedIn! 👋 I'm Joshua Mead, Senior Engineer at Exclaimer popping on for this week's "A View of Life Inside the Engineering Team at Exclaimer," First here’s a little about me: 1️⃣ I live in Bristol, UK. 2️⃣ I like relaxing on evenings and weekends with my partner and visiting my grandparents nearby. 3️⃣ My main passion is Dungeons & Dragons and other TTRPGs, and spend most of my free time worldbuilding, writing, and creating sessions for my friends to play in every week. I joined Exclaimer as an apprentice engineer just over 5 years ago and have progressed from Apprentice Engineer, to Engineer, and from Engineer to Senior Engineer thanks to Exclaimer’s outlook on rewarding and encouraging a questioning mindset. Here are four ways embracing a culture of inquiry benefits our engineering team at Exclaimer: Encouraging Innovation: We empower team members to question existing methods, which leads to innovative solutions. Our quarterly "Curiosity Weeks" invite engineers to explore new processes and technologies and challenge the status quo. Enhancing Quality: Our "Shift Left" approach ensures quality from the start of the product life cycle. Engineers of all backgrounds participate in early analysis, catching bugs early, discovering new test cases, and reevaluating products for better outcomes. This leads to robust testing and high product quality. Continuous Learning and Growth: We foster a culture of continuous learning through discussions and knowledge sharing. "Lunch and Learn" sessions allow engineers to share expertise in an informal setting. We also allocate a training budget to help engineers upskill and advance their careers. Empowering Engagement: We amplify employee voices and encourage active participation through open Q&A sessions after every meeting. This boosts morale and strengthens team bonds. We reward those who demonstrate curiosity and engagement. If you're interested in joining our amazing team, check out the link in the comments! 👇
