Professional police agencies supervise their officers to identify problem officers. They then don't sit around waiting for these ticking timebombs to screw up bad enough, potentially victimize members of the public, before they intercede or move to discipline or terminate. Oftentimes "problem officers" can be identified and "saved" with remedial training. Regardless, remedial training should be a part of an agency's system to improve their workforce, and document during progressive discipline. https://lnkd.in/gSmSmfcQ

Interesting study. Insights from CFS info plus insights from risky settings could be combined to make officer safety (and rapid response) a matter for Real Time Crime Centers (#RTCC) -- protecting 1st responders at high-risk places based on initial call type and the CFS origin location. I can attest to the fact that over the last three decades we have never waivered from the importance of training.

Every year when I grade Edge Hill University Professional Policing students Police Research Reports, I am astounded by the data they collect and the new knowledge and insights they generate. The wealth of new knowledge and its potential to further support and develop policing practice is not being utilised effectively (YET) - how do we make better use of all this amazing work? #knowledgeexchange #knowledgeexchangechallenge

Realistic training is the key for our nation's police officers. Police officers need the right training before they hit the streets. Training should include: - Realistic scenarios - Training weapons - Black Wall System All of these things will help officers make the best decisions possible. Our officers need to be ready for anything when they're out on patrol. They need to know how to handle high-stress situations and make quick decisions. Realistic training is the best way to prepare them. It's time to invest in our nation's police officers.
