"You and me are all that matter…” Recently, a Phoenix Police officer used his de-escalation training when responding to a call about a man in crisis. The officer approached the situation with the ultimate goal of minimizing harm above all else. After an hour of speaking with the man, the officer was able to peacefully resolve the situation and get the man the help that he needed. This officer is an incredible example of utilizing force avoidance techniques effectively when it comes to mental health.
