9 Lessons & Carols- Lesson 2, The Spark of Light. During Christmas, let there be light, but let it be safe and bright. Use LED bulbs during & after the merriment, for a spark of caution is the second commandment. Let the season shine without impediment!

Day 28 of “Fire Lighters” by Lew Caralla Once. There’s a reason you can’t just run once and expect to stay in shape. There’s a reason you can’t sweep the floor once and expect the room to stay clean. There’s a reason you can’t study once and expect to be prepared. There’s a reason you can’t practice hard once and expect to win. There’s a reason you can’t discipline your kids once and expect them to behave forever. There’s a reason you can’t pray once and expect your life to be perfect. There’s a reason you don’t wake up early once and expect to stay ahead. There’s a reason you don’t tell your family you love them once and expect that to be enough. What's the point? Once you make a commitment to consistency, accomplishing your goals will follow. Until then, once will never be enough. Have a great day.

https://lnkd.in/exPW-jSt This is from our first episode of MWW, the show I created. The producers refused to listen to me as the expert and did not use night cams and full moonlight as I advised. They forced us--with no water, in midday sun--to do stuff like climb hills for "B-roll" shots; meanwhile, we were cooking in the sun and dehydrating. I was nearly collapsed when Ruthie dropped. They almost killed her with heat stroke. I had to threaten them to bring the medic on set. He saved her life, but she got sun stroke and it destroyed her hypothalamus’s ability to regulate body temp ever since. Such is the high cost of doing these shows and keeping them real. They finally let me start the fire way too late in the day; a fire plow is not fun, and less so when you wait too late. If your survival tasks, like fire and shelter, require energy, make sure you do these early while you have energy...1 day without food, water or sleep can zap you hard. And that's a day in the bush, not at the desk. You're burning a lot more calories than normal. Thanks for watching and supporting us over the years, and please go have fun with your loved ones safely, but practice some of these skills...sometimes they can be fun...when you don't need them!
