Passion is not enough!
For five years I worked with a group of young acrobats at Cirkidz
They had ideas and passion. Many people do.
We added a deep creative process with some some key ingredients and amazing things happened!
1. We did a lot of PREPARATION so when the time came, they were ready.
2. Part of that preparation was exploring LOTS of ideas 💡
We watched, learned, dreamed, tried, borrowed, combined, made, edited and performed.
They made lots. Lots! LOTS!
The result? A big, wild idea they had came to life 💥 Gravity & Other Myths
Gravity and Other Myths has become one of the premier Contemporary Circus Companies in the world. Running their company in a unique and human-centered way, they have been going strong for 14 years, winning awards in many different categories of art.
Their ideas have well and truly come to life!
As a minor character in their story, I am very proud. I continue to work with them on strategy and communication which is a joy 😊
The lessons they can teach YOU are:
1. Preparation is key
2. Make lots!

When I was a little kid one of my favourite movies to watch on TV in the 80s was Battle Beyond the Stars.
I think I may have even gone to the cinema to see it aged 7.
As I became mad into movies I loved the stories you heard around the making of Battle Beyond the Stars - which combined Star Wars with Seven Samurai (Star Wars itself was influenced by Hidden Fortress - another Japanese movie great).
Legend had it that Roger Corman, the man behind the film, was a formidable force creatively.
It was often joked that Corman could negotiate a contract from a public phone, shoot the film in the phone box and pay for it with the coins in the change slot.
He'd encourage his set designers and special effects teams to think differently regarding how they achieved what they needed to.
This resulted in upside down takeaway cartons being spray painted and used as panels on the spaceship interior.
Over the decades many famous filmmakers would cut their teeth with Roger Corman.
Francis Ford Coppola, Ron Howard, James Cameron and Martin Scorsese are just a few of the filmmaking professionals who owe their careers to Corman.
Make no mistake, he made a lot of B-movies (crap) did Corman... but one thing you should always remember is he made a career out of it and no doubt had a lot of fun along the way.
How many of us can say that about our careers?
Rest in peace Mr Corman. Your work here is done.
And thank you for Battle Beyond the Stars!

During a Universoul Circus performance Friday night in Bedford, a talented aerialist fell during a high-stakes act, leaving the audience shocked. While initial updates indicated he was conscious, conflicting reports and an ambulance at the scene have raised concerns about the performer’s condition.
This incident raises important questions about safety in live performances.
Should performers have stricter safety protocols or post-incident transparency?

Dan Bigger posted this recently and said "It's almost like you are in the middle of this crazy circus trying to please and entertain a very tough crowd."
🤔 That made me think... 🤔
Why do lion tamers in a circus use a whip, some snacks, and a 3 or 4-leg stool? Why the stool??
🔑 When the lion tamer lifts the stool to face his snarling companions, the lions see all the stool legs and they don’t know which one to focus on.
🔑As a result, they stand frozen, enabling the tamer to keep them at bay.
👉 Unfortunately, the same can happen to you when you try to focus on too many things at once--you become unable to take action on ANY of them.
The Lesson ➡ Lack of FOCUS significantly impairs your ability to lead and stick to your plan.
Thanks Dan Bigger for that unintended, hidden lesson. 🦁

Making Life Glimmer with my best friend| Coaching and molding young volleyball players, also with my best friend| Making new friends wherever and whenever I can| Seeing what comes next
Life can get very crazy and interesting all at the same time.
It's full of ups and downs, in's and out's, and whole bunch of round and rounds.
Sometimes it can seem a little nuts.
It's almost like you are in the middle of this crazy circus trying to please and entertain a very tough crowd.
The only thing you don't realize is that you are the main attraction.
The Dancing Bear trying to keep it all together for everyone around you.
While it may get complicated, you still can complete your goals.
There will be times that the act doesn't match the plan.
Keep on juggling flaming flaming bowling pins while riding a unicycle in the main circle.
It's just another week at the circus..............................................
Have an entertaining and productive week.
