Kumul awards seismic contract! - KUMUL PETROLEUM HOLDINGS Today Kumul Petroleum Holdings awarded a contract to OilMin Holdings Limited to carry out seismic work in two petroleum retention licences where KPHL is the operator. General Manager, Fintan Lalor, signed the contract on behalf of OilMin. Kumul Petroleum managing director, Wapu Sonk, said,”This contract award is the next step in our management of the petroleum retention licences awarded to KPHL by DPE. We have engaged OiMin to shoot a total of 79 kilometres of seismic, in six lines, over the Kimu and Barikewa fields in Gulf and Western provinces.” “This is the first time that a national company has engaged in petroleum exploration in PNG.” Mr Sonk advised,”The purpose of this seismic work is to gather additional information on the petroleum resources already discovered in these two licences, to hopefully increase the confirmed volumes of oil and gas they contain, as well as improve further exploration targets.” “Once we have a better idea of the oil and gas volumes in these licences, we can assess the economic feasibility of monetising this resource, and select a development path.” “As approved by the KPHL Board, the contract has a value of K79 million, this cost split almost equally between the two licences. We are happy to engage OilMin, a national company who have many years experience in the management of remote field operations in the country and employ many Papua New Guineans.” Explaining some of the detail of the planned seimic, Mr Sonk outlined that, “the proposed work is in remote areas and will be heli-supported. Seismic line cutting is a labour intensive activity and it is likely that there will be 3-400 casual labourers engaged by OilMin during the programme.” “OilMin, as principal contractor, will be responsible for all aspects of the programme including seismic data collection, helicopter support, medical and security services on site. This seismic programme will start this month and should be complete by March 2025.” “I am glad that Kumul Petroleum Holdings is now actively involved in upstream petroleum exploration and investigating the possibility of further commercialisation of PNG’s gas resources, in licences where these discoveries had previously been considered uneconomic stranded fields.” _____________________________ https://lnkd.in/gxavittQ

"At TGS, we are proud of our longstanding and successful partnership with Liberia, which we believe presents considerable offshore hydrocarbon opportunities. This high-quality 2D seismic data will be essential in promoting future licensing rounds offshore Liberia under a direct negotiation approach. It also allows E&P companies to further evaluate exploration opportunities in an under-explored but proven petroleum system adjacent to prolific hydrocarbon provinces," #Liberia #offshore #oil #exploration

Shell and others making exploration look easy, but it isn’t. 14 wells were drilled in the UK CNS before the first modest oil discovery was made at Montrose - since then >46Bboe has been produced. In Namibia it has taken 13 years and 9 ‘unsuccessful’ wells before Graff-1 fired the starting gun. Pick a cliché, but following hot on the heels of Guyana as the worlds latest emerging Petrostate, hopefully Namibia can avoid the paradox of plenty! #oilgas #oilandgasexploration

Argentina Exploration Alert! Local reports indicate that Equinor deepwater Argerich-1 exploration well in CAN-100 in Argentina’s Northern Basin was dry. YPF and Shell are partners in the well. The Argentina Norte Basin is analogous to Namibia’s Orange Basin, although Argerich is a structural prospect versus the basin floor fans found in Namibia. Multiple blocks are licensed around CAN-100, and Shell is currently in the process of acquiring 3D seismic over CAN-107 and CAN-109 (in partnership with QatarEnergy).

Alligator Energy Ltd (ASX:AGE, OTC:ALGEF) CEO Greg Hall sits down with Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to talk about significant uranium discoveries following resource extension drilling at the Samphire Uranium Project near Whyalla, South Australia. The drilling, which ran from late January to mid-April, included 49 drill holes spanning 4,089 metres. This initiative aimed at the Blackbush deposit's roll fronts has revealed noteworthy uranium intersections, aligning with strategic exploration objectives. Ground gravity surveys played a crucial role in identifying the target palaeochannels, enhancing the accuracy of deposit targeting. Significant results include intersections of 4.44 metres at 0.43% uranium (pU3O8) from 61.38 metres, 1.47 metres at 0.40% from 60.68 metres, 0.75 metres at 0.64% from 63.57 metres and 1.17 metres at 0.30% from 64.24 metres. These findings not only extend the... Watch at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors http://ow.ly/BpfZ105ruaQ

British oil giant Shell is seeking permission from the South African government to drill up to five exploration and appraisal wells in the offshore Orange Basin, located west of the country. The basin has become a focal point for hydrocarbon exploration since the first discovery was announced in 2022. Shell has commissioned international environmental consultancy SLR to conduct the necessary public consultations, which are set to conclude on 8 August. The proposed activities within the licence block known as Northern Cape Ultra Deep include drilling exploration and appraisal wells, vertical seismic profiling, well testing, plugging and abandonment of wells, and associated geophysical surveys.
