August 31st was International Overdose Awareness Day, here are a few things we learned that we can do to make a difference! The 2024 theme for International Overdose Awareness Day, “Together we can,” encourages community, unity, and action, reminding us that we have the power to make a difference when we work together. Together we can: -Attend or host IOAD events. -Share stories of those we have lost to overdose. -Wear purple in remembrance of those who have died from overdose. -Learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to an overdose. -Carry naloxone in case of an emergency. -Volunteer with local harm reduction organizations. -Remove stigmatizing language in discussions about substance use. -Tell friends and family that no one has to struggle alone, and help is available through 988. International Overdose Awareness Day – August 31, 2024 Today, and every day, we stand in solidarity with communities across the globe to observe International Overdose Awareness Day, the world's largest annual campaign dedicated to ending overdose, breaking the stigma surrounding it, and honouring the lives of those we've lost. This year's theme, "Together we can," underscores the incredible power we have as a community when we come together to support one another in the fight against overdose. At the Northern First Nations Alliance, we are deeply committed to bringing lifesaving resources to our Northwest area First Nation communities. Our efforts include: 1. Land-Based Treatment: Healing grounded in our traditions and the wisdom of our ancestors. 2. Mobile Supports: Bringing care directly to those who need it most, ensuring no one is left behind. 3. Aftercare and Recovery Services: Offering ongoing support to help individuals reclaim their lives and thrive in their communities and beyond. Together, we are working towards a future where every life is valued, where the weight of stigma is lifted, and where our communities have the resources they need to heal and grow. We remember those we have lost, and we reaffirm our commitment to supporting every person in their journey toward recovery. Let's continue to stand together because together, we can make a difference. #IOAD2024 #TogetherWeCan #EndOverdose #NFNAlliance #CommunityHealing

On this #OverdoseAwarenessDay, we honor the lives lost to overdose and remind ourselves that each of us has the power to make a difference. Recognizing the signs of an overdose and knowing how to respond can save lives: 🆘 **Steps to Help Stop an Overdose:** 1. Call 911 immediately. 2. Administer naloxone if available. 3. Perform CPR or provide rescue breaths. 4. Stay with them until help arrives. At Hygea, we are deeply committed to reducing overdose deaths by providing accessible, compassionate care and support. Together, we can create a community where everyone has the chance to recover and thrive. 💜 #EndOverdose #HygeaCares #RecoveryIsPossible #HarmReduction

Week 2 accomplished! Engaging in walks with teammates, friends, and family has made achieving 15,000 steps a day enjoyable and something I hope to continue after this challenge (not the 15,000 steps, the walks)! With MND, speech and communication can be affected in various ways. Weakness in the tongue, lips, vocal cords and chest can make speech faint, slurred or unclear. Gesture and facial expressions can also change. This makes conversations more difficult as symptoms progress, but there are techniques and communication aids to help. I take pride in the impact of our efforts at Liberator Ltd assisting individuals with MND whose speech is affected. I kindly ask for your support by liking, sharing, and contributing to Team Liberators' Just Giving page. Your involvement raises awareness and crucial funds for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association in their fight against this devastating disease. I’ll post the link to the Just Giving page in the comments. Watch out for another update next week! 🙏

Check out the interview below for more details on how we assisted Jess and Pete in creating their perfect wet room! 🌟
Global MND Awareness Day 🌟 We recently helped Jess and Pete create their perfect wet room. Pete was diagnosed with MND in 2022, and since then, Jess and Pete have been well-known around Exeter for raising awareness for motor neurone disease. Whether this is educating schools or talking on the BBC, they are doing a fantastic job of teaching others about the disease.
