I’ve seen a lot of talk lately, including from an employee, that “HR works for the company, not the employee.” While there’s some truth to this, I feel there’s more to the story. Yes, HR’s role is to serve the company’s interests, but the company’s success is closely linked to the well-being of its employees. When we support, protect, and invest in our people, we’re also investing in the organization’s growth. Every executive and HR leader understands that a company’s strength is rooted in the people who make it. As an HR professional, my responsibility is to help create a work environment where employees feel valued, empowered, and genuinely included. I strive for trust and transparency, making sure employees know their rights and holding leadership accountable for upholding those standards. So, when people ask if HR serves the company or the employees, my answer is both. Advocating for employees is, in turn, advocating for the company’s long-term success.

What advice do you have for someone looking to transition to a human resources management role? ✏️ As an HR professional, it's crucial to recognize the pivotal role you play as a strategic business partner, rather than just a bureaucratic function. Advocate for effective management practices, leverage your expertise and ensure your contributions add tangible value to the organization. Above all, its not a walk in the park.

🔑 💭 Have you heard…“HR works for the company, not the employee.” Yes, HR does serve the company, but here's the thing: the success of any company is directly tied to the success of its employees. When we protect, support, and invest in our people, we are ultimately protecting and growing the organization itself. Every executive and HR leader knows that a company is ONLY as strong as the foundation its people create. A great HR leader serves both equally. My responsibility as an HR professional is to ensure that I, along with the leaders I support, are cultivating an environment where employees thrive, feel valued, and experience a genuine sense of belonging. Operating from a place of trust and transparency, ensuring that employees are well-informed about their rights, and holding leaders accountable to those standards. By advocating for the employee, I am also advocating for the company's long-term success.
