Many users find LinkedIn’s new “Catch up” feature annoying. The problem is that these notifications are mixed with more exciting ones, like connection requests. Seeing a notification about someone wanting to connect is rewarding and engaging. But clicking on it, expecting a new connection, and finding out it’s about someone switching jobs can be frustrating. It’s not that we don’t care about our network’s updates—it’s about managing expectations. We expect something more rewarding, and when it doesn’t match, it’s disappointing. Separating “Catch up” updates from connection requests might help by setting clearer expectations and reducing frustration. What do you think about this feature? Do you find it helpful or annoying?
