Location, location, location! When you’re planning an event, location is one of the most important elements. You’ll firstly need to consider transport links and accommodation. ✈️🛏️ The venue you choose needs to be easily accessible for your attendees. If they are arriving from around the world, being close to an airport is important, and if they’re travelling from around the country, rail links might be a priority. Once you’ve assessed where people are coming from, you can start your venue search. 🔍 If your event takes place over a number of days, having accommodation at the venue or close by will be essential (no one wants to have to trek halfway across the city and back the next day!). First of all kudos to GBTA | Global Business Travel Association for creating an Accessibility Toolkit. This is a long overdue area of our industry that frankly has been neglected and not prioritized for far too long. I have personally witnessed the neglect while attending conferences and events where the needs for those requiring better accessibility go unaddressed or marginally provided. Imagine how frustrating this is for those requiring better accessibility while trying to navigate the challenging logistical layouts of hotel venues, conference centers, exhibition halls, dining and lobby areas, and even dealing with the limited number of hotel rooms that can accommodate for their special needs.
