The presence of women in decision-making roles leads to improved socioeconomic outcomes, benefiting all society. But despite the fact that more women than ever hold political decision-making positions worldwide, gender parity is still far from reality, especially in #Brazil. Whereas Bolivia, Ecuador, and Argentina have the highest rates of women’s participation in their chambers or assemblies, Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies has the largest gender imbalance in South America — with only 17.5% of its seats occupied by women, according to data from Inter-Parliamentary Union. Why do senior female executives have 23% fewer children than their entry-level counterparts? A 2022 Visier study highlights the struggle women face in balancing career and family. In Brazil, only 18% of female executives have children, compared to 35% of men, underscoring persistent gender inequality. To foster gender equity, companies must support motherhood and career balance. Expanding parental leave, flexible schedules, and childcare support can make a significant impact, benefiting women and creating a more inclusive workplace. #DiversityandInclusion #GenderEquity #ParentalLeave #WomenInLeadership PS: Article in Portuguese but worth translating 😉

Immensely honored to be part of Rachel Maia´s column in the newspaper O Globo, one of the most influential women executives in Brazil, talking about the challenges of gender diversity. We have made a lot of progress on this topic, but we still have a lot to improve. In the US, the number of women in C-level positions fell for the first time in almost two decades, according to recently published S&P Global Market Intelligence. Last year, a McKinsey study already anticipated an important concern in the diversity scenario: for every senior manager promoted, two women at the same level left the company by their own decision. Our cause is not just for women, it is for men too - for their wives, daughters and granddaughters. And together with my friend Rachel and thousands of other executive women in Brazil, we will continue to move forward. #GenderEquity #ESG #HR

"As long as this remains a "problem" for women and not for society, we won't find viable solutions. In fact, as with any other complex problem, the solution will only be found with the co-operation of all those involved, and with win-win solutions for everyone - fathers, mothers, companies and society. " Read here the new article of our Deputy Director for the Center for Responsible Business and Leadership of CATÓLICA-LISBON, Filipa Pires de Almeida. In our most recent publication featured in Animal Político, Andrea Cordero and I discussed Mexico's significant historic moment as two women contend for the presidency. The question arises: Is being a woman enough to ensure a feminist agenda within the presidency? When viewed through a gender lens, it becomes imperative to thoroughly scrutinize our approach to assessing female candidates. We must actively steer clear of gender biases that could cloud our ability to conduct an objective analysis. Moreover, we must not settle for mere gender representation; instead, we must advocate for an agenda that prioritizes the protection of women’s rights, human rights, and environmental concerns.

🌟 I would like to share the product of a long research journey that began with my scientific initiation and evolved into articles discussing various aspects of the relationship between the city and the female gender. These dysfunctions led to my final course project, defended in 2022. After studying mobility, I realized the need to approach this issue from a gender perspective. With the help of my advisors, I explored gender and urban spaces, focusing on how women's walking experiences are influenced by the patriarchal structures of cities. This deep dive resulted in my thesis, “WALKING IN THE PATRIARCHAL CITY: A MANUAL FOR FEMINIST CITIES.” My work examines how historically patriarchal societies shape urban designs and impact women’s experiences in current cities. This project aims to understand the relationship between urban spaces and women’s mobility, resulting in a manual for developing urban planning guidelines that promote gender equity. I believe this work is a significant step toward creating fairer and more inclusive cities. I invite everyone to explore the complete manual and envision a future with fairer and freer cities for women. 🌈 ♀ 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dYUr4htv #GenderEquality #UrbanPlanning #FeministCities #Research #CityDesign #Equity #WomensRights #UrbanStudies #InclusiveCities
